River outlook and Forecast: All the major rivers are in rising trend except the Surma-Kushiyrara.

 According to the information of Bangladesh Meteorological Department and India Meteorological

Department, there is chance of fairly widespread medium to heavy rainfall in the Northern, North-Eastern

parts of Bangladesh along with adjoining Assam and Meghalaya states of India in next 24 hours.  The Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Ganges-Padma rivers may continue rising in next 48 hours and the Atrai river at Baghabari and Padma river at Goalondo point may cross danger level in next 24 hours.

Government Initiatives: NAWG Preparation:  MoDMR of GoB allocated 17,500 MT GR rice and 29,300,000 BDT GR  NAWG is closely observing the cash. flood situation. Humanitarian Agency response and initiatives:

Humanitarian agencies on the ground are collecting information preparing themselves for response. NAWG has not only compiled NDRCC extracted data but also received number of report from member organization. Here are the overview on their report:

BDRCS :  BDRCS NHQ has opened an Emergency Control Room (phone: +880 29 355 995) and advised all its staff to be on high alert for possible deployment  Hygiene Parcel box is distributed to affected population by BDRCS in Netrokona (500 boxes), Bandarban (500 boxes), Chattagram (400 boxes), Sunamganj (400 boxes), Rangamati (400 boxes), Cox’s Bazaar (300 boxes), Khagrachari (200 boxes) and Chattagram City (200 boxes).  As cash allocation BDRCS has distributed BDT 1 lakh for Bandarban Unit for purchasing necessary raw materials to provide cooked food to the affected communities.  Red Cross Youth volunteers are one of the first movers. Thirty RCY volunteers are on the field since 7th July 2019 supporting the awareness program, evacuation, first aid and supporting local administration in distributing foods to the affected people who have been evacuated. They are also supporting the fire service and civil department in repairing the main road that connects Rangamati with Chattogram and the rest of the country.

German Red-cross (FbF): is extending its support through its Forecast based Financing Model. They identified 92 most vulnerable unions at the greater Brahmaputra Basin under Bogra, Gaibandha, Jamalpur, Kurigram, Rangpur, and Sirajganj district and planning to provide financial assistance to 500 families (BDT 4500 each) at Chilmari and Nayarhat upazila under .

UNICEF has been intensively supporting the health and WASH sector along with DPHE.  They distributed 20,000 Water Purifying Tablets (WPT) Maulvibazar,  30,000 WPT in Sunamganj along with 128 Hygiene Kits.  89 Medical team in Maulvibazar and 112 in Sunamganj is prepared with needed preposition to tackle any health hazard if arises any.  DPHE prepared for distributing purified drinking water to the affected people and installation of new tube well & toilets at road side where people takes shelter.

Terre des Hommes (TdH) has started distribution of safe drinking water from Dharla bridge to Jatrapur union and adjacent areas and also planned to distribute hygiene kits among affected community as earliest convenient.

Oxfam Oxfam will respond in Kurigram & Gaibandha districts with Multi-purpose Cash Grant amounting to BDT 4,500/HH and Hygiene kits to reach 900 HHs initially. Oxfam install latrines in displaced locations and will provide safe drinking water though our Water Treatment Plant in Gaibandha Sadar from tomorrow.
