Officio Town Warrant — 1966 The following is a copy of the warrant as it appeared in the 1965 Annual Report showing the disposition of each Article as voted at Town Meeting. State of New Hampshire Carroll SS. To the inhabitants of the Town of Sandwich, in said County and State, qualified to vote in town affairs: You are hereby notified to meet at the Town Hall in said Town on Tuesday, the eighth (8th.) day of March next, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon to act upon the articles set forth in this warrant. (EXPLANATION, Article 1, relating to the election of Town Officers will be taken up at the time and polls will be open until 7:30 P. M. when action will be taken up on the remaining articles.) 1. To elect by official ballot all necessary town officers for the ensuing year. This action was taken. 2. To see if the Town will determine by vote to increase the salary of the Selectmen to $500.00 and to deter- mine by vote the salaries to be paid any of its offi- cers and agents. It was voted to increase the salaries of the Selectmen to $500.00. It was voted that the salaries of the other officers remain the same as in the previous year. 3. To see if the Town will authorize the Selectmen to borrow money in anticipation of taxes, the same to be paid from revenue of 1966. Voted in the affirmative. 4. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the following sums or recommended sums of money for: (a) School Fund Note $133.92 Voted in the affirmative. (b) Support of Library in addition to amount re- quired by law. Sum recommended by Library Trustees $1,600.00. Voted in the affirmative. (c) Memorial Day Observance, $125.00. Voted in the affirmative. (d) Old Home Week Observance, $150.00. Voted in the affirmative. (e) Lakes Region Association, $283.29. Voted in the affirmative. (f) Maintenance of Notch and Dale Roads, $841.00. Voted in the affirmative. (g) Town's Share for Social Security, $950.00. Voted in the affirmative. (h) Town Road Aid (TRA) $1,131.30, the State contributing $7,542.03. Voted in the affirmative. (i) Maturing Town Notes and Interest due the Meredith Village Savings Bank and the Sand- wich Fair Association in the year 1966: $1,000.00 Fair Note $2,516.09 Fire Truck $3,516.09 Voted in the affirmative. (j) Town Hall repairs and painting. The sum recom- mended $1,200.00. Voted in the affirmative. (k) Support of Fire Department. The sum recom- mended by the Fire Department, $2,500.00 for maintenance, $2,400.00 for new hose and radio. Voted in the affirmative. (1) Support of Police Department, $1,200.00. Voted in the affirmative. (m) Town Dump and Forest Fires, $150.00. Voted in the affirmative. (n) Health Department, $150.00, Laconia Hospital $200.00 and Huggins Hospital $200.00. Voted in the affirmative. (o) Care of Cemeteries, $300.00. Voted in the affirmative. (p) Town Charges, $5,000.00. Voted in the affirmative. (q) General Government, $9,500.00. Voted in the affirmative. (r) Town Dump Maintenance, $500.00. Voted in the affirmative. (s) Town Beaches: Squam Lake Beach $700.00, Bearcamp Pond Beach $150.00, Pothole $150.00. Voted in the affirmative. (t) Insurance Premiums and Town Officers' Bonds, $1,350.00. Voted in the affirmative. (u) To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate the sum of $800.00 for payment of in- terest on Temporary Loan. Voted in the affirmative. (v) Street Lighting, $1,300.00. Voted in the affirmative, (w) Planning Board, $100.00. Voted in the affirmative. To see if the Town will vote to continue to plow drive- ways at the following rate. $7.50 for the first 90 feet and $.09 per foot for anything exceeding 90 feet. Voted in the affirmative. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the care and maintenance of Town Highways for both summer and winter. The sum recommended by the Selectmen $32,500.00. $10,000.00 Summer Maintenance, $15,000.00 Winter Maintenance, $3,000.00 for Tarvia, $1,500.00 for cul- verts, $1,000.00 for bushes, $4,000.00 for General Ex- pense. Total $34,500.00. $2,000.00 credit from door- yards. Total to be appropriated $32,500.00. Voted in the affirmative as proposed. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Select- men to purchase a new Austin Weston grader. The amount required approximately $19,000.00. Voted in the affirmative. If article 7 is voted in the affirmative to see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to draw $9,800.00 from Capital Reserve Fund, $7,000.00 of this from Depreciation Fund, and $2,800.00 from the New Equipment Fund. Also to see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to borrow approxi- mately $9,200.00 on a five year note to cover the bal- ance of the cost. Voted in the affirmative. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate one of the following sums to complete the work start- ed on Durgin Bridge: a. State of New Hampshire $6,600.00. b. Private contractor $4,500.00. 8 It was voted to have the work done by a private con- tractor at $4,500.00. 10. To see if the Town will vote to rescind that part of Article 6 in the 1964 warrant and Article 7 in the 1965 warrant calling for the appropriation of $4,500.00 and $3,500.00 respectively for rebuilding Bennett St. Bridge. It was so voted. 11. If Article 10 is adopted to see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $8,000.00 for re- surfacing the roads. It was so voted. 12. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate $800.00 to defray Damages and Legal Expenses and Town Line Work. Voted in the affirmative. 13. To see if the Town will vote to petition the State Tax Commission to have an audit made by the Divi- sion of Municipal Accounting and to make an appro- priation therefore. The sum suggested is $400.00. Voted in the affirmative. 14. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Select- men to transfer the $2,500.00 in Article 12 of 1965 warrant to the Capital Reserve Fund. This fund to be withdrawn at the discretion of the Selectmen when needed. Voted in the affirmative. 15. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate $5,000.00 for State Road improvement, the state con- tributing $10,000.00. Voted in the affirmative. 16. To see if the Town of Sandwich will vote to partici- pate in the Urban Planning Assistance Program and raise and appropriate $2,500.00 for such program. This article proposed by the Planning Board.
