SKSKYLINEYLINE CONFERENCE BASEBALL REPORT 2010 ALL-SKYLINE CONFERENCE BASEBALL Player of the Year JOSEF SCHAETZLE • SUNY College at Old Westbury Junior • 1B/DH • Bellmore, N.Y. (Chaminade HS) SUNY College at Old Westbury junior first baseman/designated hitter Josef Schaetzle was selected as the Sky- line Conference Player of the Year in baseball. Schaetzle led the Skyline Conference with a .415 batting average, tied for the conference lead with 37 runs batted in and ranked third with 13 doubles. In 14 conference games, Schaetzle was even better with a .472 average and 18 runs batted in. Pitcher of the Year MARVIN ROSARIO • SUNY College at Old Westbury Junior • Lynbrook, N.Y. (Malverne HS) SUNY College at Old Westbury junior left-hander Marvin Rosario earned Pitcher of the Year honors. The second straight Pitcher of the Year from Old Westbury, Rosario led all Skyline pitchers with six wins. Overall, he was 6-2 with a 3.93 ERA, striking out 44 batters in 50.1 innings. In conference play, he was 2-0 with a 3.47 ERA. Rosario finished fourth in the conference in strikeouts while leading all pitchers with 25 strikeouts looking. Rookie of the Year TERRENCE BOHONAN • Farmingdale State College Freshman • Outfield • Patchogue, N.Y. (Patchogue-Medford HS) Farmingdale State College freshman outfielder Terrence Bohonan was selected as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year. For the season, Bohonan batted .344 while leading all Farmingdale State players with 23 runs batted in. His numbers in conference play were even better. Bohonan batted .556 (15-for-27) with two doubles, two triples, a home run and 14 runs batted in. He struck out just once in 30 plate appearances in Skyline play. Skyline Championship MVP ZAK NERSESIAN • Farmingdale State College Senior • Catcher • Valley Cottage, N.Y. (Nyack HS) Farmingdale State College senior catcher Zak Nersesian was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Skyline Conference tournament after helping the Rams to their third straight title. Nersesian had a big game in the championship against Old Westbury, going 3-for-6 with a pair of runs scored. He was also one of Farmingdale State’s top hitters during Skyline regular-season play, batting .380 in conference games. Coach of the Year KEITH OSIK Farmingdale State College Farmingdale State College head coach Keith Osik was selected as the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year. One year after guiding the Rams to the Division III College World Series, Osik directed Farmingdale State back to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year. The Rams went 15-1 during Skyline regular-season play and went 3-0 in the conference tournament, winning 18 of 19 games against Skyline opponents.
