1983 erschien das Album „Piece of Mind“ („The Trooper/Flight of the Icarus“) 1984 Album „Powerslave“ samt einer Mammut Tour mit der aufwendigsten Bühnenschow. Die Tour wurde 1985 auf dem Live-Album „Life after Death“ verewigt. 1986 Zehnjähriges Bestehen der Band. Album „Somewhere in Time“ („Wasted Years“) 1988 Album „Seventh Son of a Seventh Son“, landet in den Charts sofort auf Platz 1 (Single „Can I play with Madness“). Diesmal sogar mit Keyboard-Sound! [einziges Österreichkonzert in Innsbruck!] 1990 Album „No Prayer for the Dying“ mit der kontroversen Single „Bring your Daughter...to the Slaughter !handelt über Kindesmißbrauch, darum wurde es in britischen Medien zensuriert. 1992 Neuer Gitarrist Janick GERS und neues Album „Fear of the Dark“ („Afraid to schoot Strangers“) Während dieser Tour verkündet Sänger Bruce Dickinson seinen Ausstieg, nach der Tour. Daraufhin erschienen 2 Live-Alben „A real live/dead one“ (1993) 1993 „Live at Donington“ Monsters of Rock (Headliner) 1995 Mit neuem Sänger Blaze BAYLEY Album „The X-Factor“. So schnitt z.B. „Alexander the Great“ „Powerslave“ „Run to the Hills“). „Bring your daughter ... to the slaughter“), doch stammen diese meistens von Dickinson. Das Lied „Iron Maiden“ faßt die Ideen der Gruppe kurz zusammen: IRON MAIDEN (Harris) Wont you come into my room I want to show you all my wares, I just want to see your blood, I just want you to stand and stare. See the blood begins to flow, As it falls upon the floor. Iron maiden can’t be fought, Iron maiden can’t be sought. CHORUS: Oh well, wherever wherever you are, Iron maiden’s gonna get you, No matter how far. See the blood flows Watching it shed, Up above my head, Iron maiden wants you the death. .

HARPERNONFICTION TO PUBLISH ROCK LEGEND, IRON MAIDEN’S BRUCE DICKINSON THIS AUTUMN FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 26th July 2017 This Autumn HarperNonFiction are publishing What Does This Button Do?, the hugely anticipated memoir from Iron Maiden frontman and rock legend, Bruce Dickinson. Heavy metal pioneers since their formation in 1975, Iron Maiden have sold over 90 million albums and played over 2000 shows in 63 countries, making them one of the most successful and globally influential bands of all time. One of the world’s most storied musicians, Bruce Dickinson has been the band’s internationally- acclaimed lead singer for more than 30 years, and quite aside from the decades spent delivering high- octane performances with his larger-than-life persona, Bruce has lived an extraordinary off-stage existence too. A true polymath, Bruce is, or has been, an airline pilot and captain, an aviation entrepreneur, a beer brewer, motivational speaker, film scriptwriter, twice-published novelist, radio presenter, TV actor and a world-class fencer. Over the last couple of years, and throughout Iron Maiden’s The Book Of Souls World Tour, which has covered 39 countries and 117 shows since February 2016, Bruce has turned his unbridled creativity to writing his memoirs, longhand (in seven A4 notebooks no less). In What Does This Button Do?, Bruce (a man who famously never gives interviews about his personal life) shares, for the first time, the most fascinating recollections, including his thirty years with Maiden, the early days, his childhood within the eccentric British school system, going solo, realising his dream of flying jumbo jets and his recent battle with tongue cancer.

Thus, he was voted a living example of a polymath by Intelligent Life magazine in Reviews Schrijf een review. This is why this book is dedicated to Bruce as a songwriter, as a poet of lyrics, some of which represent little masterpieces - even without music. Their ambiguity holds some surprises. Prior to joining that band Dickinson enjoyed stardom with Samson, while his post-Maiden solo career has brought much critical success. He ate the meal in the secure knowledge that after his death he would return again! The subjects are extremely interesting and Bruce succeeds in artfully getting to the heart of them. Their ambiguity holds some surprises. Not a light read, but entertaining in its own way nonetheless. Bold, honest, intelligent and very funny, his memoir is an up-close look inside the life, heart, and mind of one of the most unique and interesting men in the world; a true icon of rock. • Blaze Bayley, Risactonia, Black Atom @ Caesar's
BLAZE BAYLEY CAESAR’S PALACE, MONDAY 5TH MARCH ‘This is a song about how machines are going to take over the world. Because when that happens, there will be a Second Messiah!’ Like, yeah Blaze, whatever man. Let’s get this straight: I don’t like Iron Maiden. I can’t hear that name without thinking of widdly guitar solos, pompous over-the-top lyrics, grown men in shorts, Dungeons & Dragons, scampi flavour Nik-Naks, sacrificial virgins - you get the picture. So what am I doing at a gig whose main attraction is Blaze Bayley, the man who fronted Maiden through what is considered to have been their worst years? Well, there is the added bonus of Risactonia and Black Atom, two bands that are always good to watch. And I have been informed that Blaze’s solo material sounds nothing like that of his previous employers. Anyway, who can resist a good metal gig? This is Aberdeen after all, a lonely outpost that plays host to such diverse names as David Gray and Coldplay. It’s just too good an opportunity to miss. By the time Blaze come on, a steady crowd has gathered, largely made up of old Maiden fans, who seem to crawl out of the woodwork whenever such events come around, plus a good number of metal kids. Even Fudge decide to grace us with their presence. Black seems to be the colour of choice tonight. The band are dressed in black. The stage is black. And I am wearing, well, white for some reason. The other thing I should mention about the stage is the huge drum-kit that takes up half of it.

International Journal of English Learning and Teaching Skills; Vol. 1, No. 4; ISSN : 2639-7412 (Print) ISSN : 2638-5546 (Online) POETRY AND LYRICS IN LANGUAGE ACROSS CENTURIES: CLOSE READINGS OF METAL LYRICS Anushka Banerjee Aishika Mukherjee Sayantan Chanda, Shivam Shubham B.Tech Second Year, Mayurakshi Dev Assistant Professor of English Department of Basic Science and Humanities, Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata Introduction Ever since its inception into the realm of music during the mid-70, heavy metal has been hailed as one of the most extreme genres in terms of loudness, machismo and lyrical content. Throughout its existence, heavy metal has been mired with controversies; critics slighted the music by shunning it off as being riddled with overblown adolescent theatrics, and conservative groups have accused the genre of being provocative due to its evil lyrical content. Inspite of all those adversities, heavy metal has held its stance as one of the most consistent forms of rock music. Metal music, through its efforts has reinstated the “ancient Indo-European spirit of vir”1 through a Romantic, Faustian form of music culture. This has staggered the general concept of mainstream music and has hence, since long, remained controversial. Heavy metal has never been popular with the mainstream masses, primarily due to the nature of the music. Amongst other things, lyrical content of the songs is one thing that is largely frowned upon and often considered to be one of the primary reasons why metal music has never struck a chord with the masses. But such allegations, while partly true, remain biased to a large extent.
