  • Jules Bianchi, 25, Dies Nine Months After F1 Driver Crashed at Japanese Grand Prix
Jules Bianchi, 25, dies nine months after F1 driver crashed at Japanese Grand Prix Posted by TBN_News On 07/20/2015 (3 August 1989 – 17 July 2015) Jules Bianchi was a French motor racing driver who drove for Marussia F1 in the FIA Formula One World Championship. Bianchi had previously raced in Formula Renault 3.5, the GP2 Series and Formula Three and was a Ferrari Driver Academy member. He entered Formula One as a practice driver in 2012 for Sahara Force India. In 2013, he made his debut driving for Marussia, finishing 15th in his opening race in Australia and ended the season in 19th position without scoring any points. His best result that year was 13th at the Malaysian Grand Prix. In October 2013, the team confirmed that he would drive for the team the following season. In the 2014 season, he scored both his and the Marussia's first points in Formula One at the Monaco Grand Prix. On 5 October 2014, during the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, Bianchi lost control of his Marussia in very wet conditions and collided with a recovery vehicle, suffering a diffuse axonal injury. He underwent emergency surgery and was then placed into an induced coma, and remained comatose until his death on 17 July 2015. Bianchi is the first Formula One driver to be killed as a result of an accident during a Grand Prix since 1994. Bianchi died from his injuries on 17 July 2015, aged 25. His death made him the first Formula One driver to be killed by injuries sustained during a Grand Prix since Ayrton Senna in 1994.

FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE L' AUTOMOBILE 2017 FIA Formula One World Championship Malaysian Grand Prix Saturday Post-Qualifying Press Conference Transcript 30.09.2017 DRIVERS 1 – Lewis HAMILTON (Mercedes) 2 – Kimi RÄIKKÖNEN (Ferrari) 3 – Max VERSTAPPEN (Red Bull Racing) TRACK INTERVIEWS (conducted by Johnny Herbert) Lewis, what a great result for you. You must be very happy. That looked like a pretty decent lap? Lewis HAMILTON: Firstly, look at this crowd. I know it’s our last grand prix here but this is the best crowd I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much for all the support. We had no idea how it was going to go today. I’m sorry for whatever happened to Sebastian, because obviously he was very, very quick through practice. But somehow we turned it round. The engineers did such a great job yesterday, the car felt great, for both Valtteri and I, and so it’s a real surprise to be up here with these guys, so I’m very, very grateful. Kimi come and join us. What a try that was! Happy with that? I’m sure you wanted just a little bit more. I would have thought you would have done one of the old karting moves – jumping up and down in the seat, leaning forward. Maybe you should do that next time. Kimi RÄIKKÖNEN: Yeah, it’s OK, but obviously when you get that close it’s disappointing. I made the most out of it. Yes, there are always places you can improve, but you are never going to get it 100% perfect anywhere.

Press Release OCTOBER 06, 2013 Podium lock out for Renault power in Korean Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel wins Korean Grand Prix for Infiniti Red Bull RacingRenault, four seconds ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. Lotus F1 Team’s Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean finish second and third to make podium 100% Renault powered. Third allRenault powered podium this season. Vettel has led 209 of the past 213 racing laps. Vettel’s win gives him a mathematical chance to seal championship in Japan. Renaultpowered drivers locked out the podium in today’s Korean Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel (Infiniti Red Bull Racing) winning the chaotic race from Lotus F1 Team’s Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. The perfect podium result is the third time this season that the podium has been 100% Renaultpowered.* Vettel – whose pole position yesterday took Renault’s total of F1 poles to 208, equal with Ferrari’s record – opened up a comfortable lead at the start ahead of Grosjean, who had jumped ahead of Hamilton on the first corner. The pair built up a cushion of several seconds over the battles behind and were able to pit and rejoin in formation. Vettel remained in front despite two different safety cars but Raikkonen got the jump on Grosjean before the second safety car period. The Finn had a standout race from P9 on the grid, overtaking Rosberg, Hamilton, Alonso, Hulkenberg and finally his teammate to score his second consecutive podium. Mark Webber started from P13 as a result of a grid penalty but quickly found himself into the top ten racing with Alonso and Raikkonen.

F1 Debrief – You must drink Christine: This is F1 Debrief, You Must Drink. On this show we discuss ditching the water supply, the merits of being short and what could force the FIA’s hand. The subject we have to talk about today is, well it’s a bit of a weighty issue. Mr C: A huge issue, we’re talking driver weight, or lack thereof. Christine: It’s been going on for a while but it seems to have really, really hit the consciousness of the paddock and fans this particular week, this back-to-back races. Mr C: News came out during the Malaysian Grand Prix, I think Martin Brundle mentioned that. Christine: It really wasn’t news, it was Martin Brundle stirring is what it was. Mr C: He mentioned it in passing. Christine: A driver who will remain nameless… Mr C: Yes, passed out at a PR event in Malaysia. Possibly due to the humidity experienced in that climate. That was followed swiftly by Adrian Sutil mentioning this week that he is intending to race without a drinks bottle in Bahrain. I think he did use it in Malaysia which is an exceptionally hot race but during the upcoming Grand Prix he is deciding to save as much weight as he can and thereby potentially putting his own health at risk. Christine: Yeah, well the Sauber is a heavy car and Sutil isn’t one of the lightest drivers. Mr C: He’s a tall guy. Christine: He’s a tall guy, he’s one of the heaviest drivers on the grid and this year weight is everything.
