Slovenski Esej: Kronološki Uvid Terminoloških Rešitev
Slovenski esej: kronološki uvid terminoloških rešitev AnitA lAznik Šolski center Celje, Pot na Lavo 22, SI – 3000 Celje, [email protected] SCN VII/2 [2014], 67–78 Esej je posebna zvrst miselne proze, ki v literarni vedi doprinese v tistem delu raziskovanja literature, ki ni mogoč z izključno znanstve- no razpravo. Članek prikazuje reševanje terminološke variabilnosti problematike eseja v slovenski literarni vedi, in sicer bo predstavljen kronološki pregled razprav o eseju v slovenski literarni vedi, ki so izšle v knjižnih oblikah – od Literarnega leksikona Esej do Slovenske esejistike v drugi polovici dvajsetega stoletja Mirana Štuheca. The essay is a specific genre which is beneficial for the study of lit- erature in those areas of research literature that cannot be dealt which solely through scientific discussion. This article presents solutions for the terminological variability pertaining to the essay in Slovenian literary studies, namely, by presenting a chronological overview of published discussions that have appeared in book form – from Esej in Literarni leksikon to Miran Štuhec’s Slovenska esejistika v drugi polovici dvajsetega stoletja. Ključne besede: esej, esejistika, kronologija, literarna veda Key words: essay, essay writing, chronology, literary science 0 Izhodišče članka je esejistika, zvrst miselne proze, ki kljub številnim literarno- teoretičnim ali pregledno kronološkim razpravam ostaja relativno odprt prostor, vsaj v pogledu, ki predstavlja izčiščenost osnovnih pojmov in terminološko enoznačnost pojava. Prikazala bom reševanje terminološke variabilnosti proble- matike eseja v slovenski literarni vedi, in sicer bo članek predstavil kronološki pregled razprav o eseju, ki so izšle v knjižnih oblikah – od Literarnega leksikona Esej do Slovenske esejistike v drugi polovici dvajsetega stoletja Mirana Štuheca ter zaključil pregled z aktualnim pogledom na esej Toma Virka. -

Croatian Political Science Review, Vol. 55, No. 2, 2018, pp. 33-49 33 Original research article Received: 21 August 2017 DOI: 10.20901/pm.55.2.02 Post-Communist Memory Culture and the Historiography of the Second World War and the Post-War Execution of Slovenian Collaborationists OTO LUTHAR Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts Summary This paper aims to summarize the transformations in contemporary Slove- nia’s post-socialist memorial landscape as well as to provide an analysis of the historiographical representation of The Second World War in the Slovenian territory. The analysis focuses on the works of both Slovenian professional and amateur historiographical production, that address historic developments which took place during the Second World War and in its immediate aftermath from the perspective of the post-war withdrawal of the members of various military units (and their families) that collaborated with the occupiers during the Second World War. Keywords: Slovenes, Partisans, Home Guards, Historiography, Memory Introduction The debate on post-communist/post-socialist historical interpretation has become an inseparable part of the new politics of the past across Eastern and Southeastern Europe. In Slovenia, the once-vivid historiographical debate on the nature of histo- rical explanation has been ever since largely overshadowed by new attempts to mo- nopolize historical interpretation. The discussion, that has been led from the 1980s onwards, has brought forward new forms of historical representation which have once again given way to the politicized reinterpretation of the most disputed parts of the Second World War and the subsequent time of socialism. Cultural Achievements of the Slovene Diaspora in Australia
Between Europe and Australia Cultural Achievements of the Slovene Diaspora in Australia The first Slovene experiences of Australia, if one of the first documented visits of a Slovene to Australia is taken into consideration, go back into the colonial period. A certain Matija Kliner arrived to Australia sometime between 1857 and 1859, when he was working on the Austrian (Habsburg) military ship on its journey around the world. Rihard Poga~nik came to Australia in 1860, working as a navigation officer on one of the steamers owned by Lloyd's from Trieste (Trst). Anton Dolenc was during 1890 and 1891 on an Austrian military ship likewise making its way around the world and also stopped in Australia. He kept a diary about his journey on which he reported in the then Slovene papers. It is interesting, though, that none of these early Slovene visitors of Australia decided to stay for good, although the gold rush still swept the land and attracted many settlers from other European countries. According to some authors (Ogrin), the first Slovenes that actually migrated to Australia to settle there came in 191 0. The exact number of Slovenes that migrated before the Great War is difficult to ascertain, for they were citizens of the Austro Hungarian monarchy who declared themselves as Austrians. It is known that in Australia during the war broke out racial unrest against the migrants from South East Europe, i.e. including those from the Austro-Hungarian monarchy with Slovenes, who were, according to some data, under closer surveillance because of possible German affiliations and sympathies (Birsa). -
“(Slovene) Medieval History” in the Book's Subtitle Should Be
INTRODUCTION Th e phrase “(Slovene) medieval history” in the book’s subtitle should be understood in its geographical, not ethnic sense: it does not mean that the papers deal with the history of the Slovenes, but rather with historical developments and phenomena from the Middle Ages in the area that is today associated with (the Republic of) Slovenia. At the same time, we must be aware that even such a geographical defi nition can only be approximate and provisional: the contemporary frame- work of the state certainly should not limit our view or research when dealing with remote periods, when many political, linguistic, ethnical, and other borders diff ered essentially and the area had a diff erent struc- ture. Th e developments in the coastal towns of present-day Slovenia, for instance, cannot be adequately understood and described without knowledge and consideration of the conditions in the whole of Istria, the historical province that is today divided between Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, or without giving due consideration to the roles played by the Byzantine, Frankish, or Venetian authorities in the peninsula. To quote another example, the situation is similar to that of Styria (or Carinthia, or Gorizia, etc.). Since 1918, that historical Land, formed in the 12th century, has been divided between two states, Austria and Slovenia (Yugoslavia) into Austrian and Slovene Styria, and the latter occupies about one third of the former Land. It is clear, then, that we can research and describe some chapters from its history only if we focus on Styria as a whole, regardless of its current borders; or, in other words, if we view it – and this is true of everything in history – as a variable historical category that cannot be treated outside the context of the period we are interested in. -
Avant-Gardes in Yugoslavia
Filozofski vestnik | Letnik XXXVII | Številka 1 | 2016 | 201–219 Miško Šuvaković* Avant-Gardes in Yugoslavia In this study, I will approach the avant-gardes as interdisciplinary, internation- ally oriented artistic and cultural practices.1 I will present and advocate the the- sis that the Yugoslav avant-gardes were a special geopolitical and geo-aesthetic set of artistic and cultural phenomena defined by the internal dynamics and interrelations of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and by the external dynamics, cosmopolitan relations, and inter- nationalisations of local artistic excess and experimentation with international avant-garde practices. I will devote special attention to the local and interna- tional networking of cities as the political and cultural environments where the avant-gardes took place. Above all, the avant-gardes thereby acquired the char- acter of extremely urban artistic and cultural phenomena. Introductory Interpretation of the Concept of the Avant-garde Discussing the status, functions, and effects of any avant-garde does not boil down to asking what phenomenal or conceptual, i.e. formalist, qualities are characteristic of an avant-garde work of art, the behaviour of an avant-garde artist, or her private or public life. On the contrary, equally important are direc- tional questions regarding the instrumental potentialities or realisations of the avant-garde as an interventional material artistic practice in between or against dominant and marginal domains, practices, or paradigms within historical or 201 present cultures. Avant-garde artistic practices are historically viewed as trans- formations of artistic, cultural, and social resistances, limitations, and ruptures within dominant, homogeneous or hegemonic artistic, cultural, and social en- vironments. -

Branke Kalenić Ramšak in izr. prof. dr. Mateje Pezdirc Bartol. Ljubljana, 2013 POVZETEK Špansko in slovensko povojno obdobje sta minili v znamenju kulturne represije. Gledališče in dramatika sta se v začetnih letih znašli pod strogim cenzurnim nadzorom, ki je skozi leta dobival liberalnejšo podobo, ob koncu režima pa se ponovno zaostril. Medtem ko je bila slovenska gledališka cenzura neuradna, je bila španska uradna. Da bi ustvarjalce puščala v večni negotovosti in tako pridobivala na moči, nobena ni vzpostavila jasnih norm. Ker so državna gledališča sledila togi uradni kulturni politiki, je v obeh državah nastala razvejana mreža eksperimentalnih gledališč. Takrat so španski in slovenski gledališki prostor končno napolnili sodobni evropski tokovi. V obeh državah sta se v povojnem času razvila socialni realizem, drama absurda in ostale novejše gledališke smeri, zanimiva pa je tudi primerjava med slovensko poetično in špansko simbolistično dramo. Ideološko enoumje, ustrahovanje in slab položaj kulturnikov sta mnoge dramatike spodbudila k pisanju kritične dramatike. Da bi prelisičili cenzuro, so nekateri avtorji kritiko zavili v neprebojen plašč metaforike, drugi pa so ostajali eksplicitni. Diplomsko delo se ukvarja z interpretacijo in primerjavo španskih in slovenskih dram, ki so se lotevale kritike enakih področij ali so kritiko izražale na podoben način, to so Las Meninas Antonia Buera Valleja in Disident Arnož in njegovi Draga Jančarja, Antigona Dominika Smoleta in Antígona ¡cerda!
