This increase in the WL of the sea will have an impact by slowing down the flow of Mahanadi River, thereby increasing the volume and consequently the WL in the river system. There 1 ORISSA FLOOD SITREP 2nd September 2003, 00 hrs is every possibility of a heightened threat to the areas along the river namely Jagatsingpur, Kendrapada, and Puri.
