T HE P ARISH OF S AINT A UGUSTINE C OATBRIDGE ! S COTLAND Twenty Fourth Sunday Ordinary Time 16 September 2 0 1 8 Joining the Catholic Family As you know around about this time of year the RCIA Team are getting ready to accompany those within our community who feel drawn to the Catholic family. This year there has been a high uptake which is a great sign of God’s work among us, inspiring hearts to take up the call to follow the Lord. I would ask that you continue to pray for all those discerning the Lord’s call to embrace the Catholic vocation. During these months of prayer, discernment and preparation they will come to know the Lord and His Church more profoundly, with the hope that they will formally join the Church at Easter. The first RCIA meeting will take place in the Parish House on Welcoming others into Monday 1st October at 7.30pm, and will meet each Monday the family of the Church! evening thereafter (except during school holidays). Those still interested in joining the RCIA program will have to first speak to Fr. Kane (as soon as possible) to discuss the next steps. Cathedral Mass This Wednesday 19th September at 7.00pm Bishop Toal will lead a special Mass for Marriage & Family Life. This is in response to Pope Francis’ call during the World Meeting of Families to do more within our local Catholic communities to promote the ‘Gospel of the Family’. All married couples who attend are invited to renew their marriage vows before the Bishop. This is a great way for married couples to rededicate themselves to the vows of love, commitment and fidelity. All are welcome to attend this special Mass and it is hoped that many families from our parish will make the effort to travel to the Cathedral in Motherwell to take part. Supporting Vocations to the Priesthood Vocations Awareness Week comes to an end this weekend. To mark it there will be a Special Collection (Second Collection) taken-up to support the work of training those men studying for the priesthood. This is an important collection to ensure our diocese supports the vital work of our seminaries to ensure the next generation of Scottish priests. Your generosity is greatly appreciated for this important collection. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION MEETINGS Parents are reminded of the importance of attending Mass each week as a family. This is especially important for those children in P.3 and P.4 who are preparing for First Reconciliation (Confession) and First Holy Communion. Mass is an essential part of their preparation for these important steps in their life of faith. This Monday evening Fr. Kane will meet with all the parents of children who are to be presented for sacraments in the coming year. These are important meetings which all parents are asked to attend. Please contact the Parish House on 423044 if, for whatever reason, you are unable to attend. Below are details of the meeting times. Please note the children themselves are not asked to attend.
