The Festival is one of the highlights of the NAMT year, bringing together 600+ industry professionals for two days of intense focus on new musical theatre works and the remarkably talented writing teams who create them. This year we are particularly excited not only about the quality, but also about the diversity—in theme, style, period, place and people—represented across the eight shows that were selected from over 150 submissions. We’re visiting 17th-century England and early 20th century New York. We’re spending some time in the world of fairy tales—but not in ways you ever have before. We’re visiting Indiana and Georgia and the world of reality TV. Regardless of setting or stage of development, every one of these shows brings something new—something thought-provoking, funny, poignant or uplifting—to the musical theatre field. This Festival is about helping these shows and writers find their futures. Beyond the Festival, NAMT is active year-round in supporting members in their efforts to develop new works. This year’s Songwriters Showcase features excerpts from just a few of the many shows under development (many with collaboration across multiple members!) to salute the amazing, extraordinarily dedicated, innovative work our members do. Audrina Patridge Says Cameras Are Off and Love Life Is On VH1 decided not to renew Audrina Patridge self-titled reality show for a second season, but Patridge couldn’t be happier as the cancellation may just be what she needed to repair her on- again, off-again relationship with her boyfriend, BMX rider Corey Bohan. “Filming a reality show really takes a toll on relationships because your mindset is to create good TV,” the former “The Hills” star told People. “It’s really really hard on relationships so after the show, Corey [Bohan] and I really worked on what was going on with us. We spent time together.” Audrina’s breakup with Corey may have been good for her show’s finale, but the couple has since rekindled their relationship and got back together in May. How do you keep your job from affecting your relationship? Cupid’s Advice: It’s easy to let your job take over your life. Cupid has some ways to keep it from affecting your relationship: 1. Try to separate work from home: Sure, everyone has their bad days a work, but try not to bring the stress you may receive at work to your home. If your job is consistently stressing you out, it may be time to start filling out applications. 2. Balance: Although you may not have finished everything you needed to do at work before your day ended, try to make sure that you when you’re home, you’re relaxing and not thinking about what you will have to do tomorrow. -

She has created rich and diverse soundscapes for film and television productions that have won awards including a Daytime Emmy, a BAFTA, an Independent Spirit Award, and a GLAAD Media Award. She has musical directed shows featuring artists Sandra Bernhard, Liza Minnelli, Rufus Wainwright, Leisha Hailey, and Justin Vivian Bond. In 2019, the Sundance Film Institute invited Carla to perform at the Sundance Film Festival. Skywalker Sound and the Sundance Institute also selected Carla as a Composer Fellow for the Sundance Film Music and Sound Design Lab, during which she developed her haunting and vocally-driven score to Keola Racela’s horror comedy PORNO which premiered at SXSW in 2019, and is set for a theatrical release in April 2020 (Fangoria). According to Variety Magazine, “Carla Patullo’s score is a nicely poker-faced channeling of fantasy-action soundtrack tropes from a generation ago.” Carla’s recent credits include MY NAME IS MARIA DE JESUS (HBO), TEEN TITANS GO! (Cartoon Network), PORNO (SXSW), the Independent Spirit award-winning film SPA NIGHT (Sundance, Netflix), the award-winning film JEANNE CORDOVA (Outfest), LETTER TO ANITA (Outfest), PIZZA FACE (San Diego Comic-Con), and LOTTE THAT SILHOUETTE GIRL (2018 IDA Shortlist). GLAAD and Proctor & Gamble gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) characters released the results of the first LGBTQ Inclusion in on television. This year marks the sixteenth study since Advertising and Media survey last summer. Our findings expanding that focus into what is now our Where We Are prove that seeing LGBTQ characters in media drives on TV (WWATV) report. Much has changed for the LGBTQ greater acceptance of the community, respondents who community in that time, when our first edition counted only had been exposed to LGBTQ images in media within 12 series regular LGBTQ characters across both broadcast the previous three months reported significantly higher and cable, a small fraction of what that number is today. -
