Before you know it winter will be back and it Central Division will be time to start planning for another great ski season in 2011-2012. Check out the new calendar Trained through the NSP in this issue for many upcoming opportunities and, and David Dahl most importantly, refresher dates. serving the Skiing and Region Director This fall, refreshers will be using the new 5th Edition Boarding Public via our book. There is an orientation exercise that must be Local completed by all patrollers and brought to their refresher. The exercise (not the Hills, Trails and Resorts answer key) is posted on the member website in Quick links for download. Patrol- lers will need access to the 5th Edition to complete this portion of their refresher. This is a great opportunity for patrols to spend money they have on hand to pur- chase new books for their patrollers. No money?? – How about doing a fundraiser. This is a great grant request. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the spring region banquet in April. Our Division Director Jim Woodrum and his wife were our guests at the banquiet. Inside this issue: Jim’s wife love shopping in the area and (according to Jim) taking too many things home! • Marquette Township Recreation Plan 2014-2018
MARQUETTE CHARTER TOWNSHIP MARQUETTE COUNTY | MICHIGAN RECREATION PLAN | 2014-2018 INTRODUCTION The following Recreation Plan shall serve the Charter Township of Marquette located in Marquette County, Upper Peninsula, Michigan. The plan’s primary objective is to ensure that adequate, quality recreational opportunities are provided for all users and visitors of Marquette Township. Our governing body, committees and staff accomplish this by acquiring, developing and maintaining recreational assets. We’ve also formed a strong volunteer-base and fostered extensive public and private partnerships. Recreation project development in Marquette Township has gained momentum in the past several years due to consistent Township Board leadership, effective conceptual planning and stable budgeting. We have based this plan’s Action Program on Recreation Committee input, public work sessions with stakeholders and community survey results. The Marquette Township Recreation Plan | 2014-2018, was written in accordance with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Guidelines for the Development of Community Park, Recreation, Open Space, and Greenway Plans, as administered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Grants Management team. The plan is intended to afford the township with eligibility to apply for financial assistance from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund - Acquisition, Development and Recreation Passports Grant Programs for proposed projects over the course of the next five years. We distributed the draft plan to our surrounding municipalities, agencies, partners and the public for review and comment on Monday, February 3, 2014. The plan will also be available for review on our Marquette Township website at: www.marquettetownship.org and on our Facebook page. Gelandesprung Gazette “Going Downhill since 1969!” January 202 1 www.gelandesprung.org P.O. Box 10422, Green Bay, WI 54307-0422 Life on Adam's Street Hello and Happy New Year everyone! As I write this it’s just a few days before Christmas, and it’s not looking very much like winter, however will hope that will change by the time you read this. Another year is in the books, and if you are like me, your slamming it shut! I have no words other than to start by paying respect to a long standing member we recently said goodbye to. For those who do not know, Senny Wegner passed away recently. He has been a long-time member and attended most every trip and will be missed. At the time of writing this article, our Midwest trips are proceeding as drive-up. There is still room on our trips to Powderhorn and Houghton. We have quite a few day trips planned for you as well with the full details included as always in this newsletter. Interested members should read further for all the details and if applicable, get their registration in today, to ensure they are accounted for. The Board is beginning the planning process for Spring Banquet 2021, with a possibility of an in-person once again. One thing is for certain, is the election of officers with the positions of President and Social Chair being open this year. We are working out the details, and nothing is set in stone as of yet, so make sure to read the upcoming newsletters for updates on how we will address the banquet and elections.

  • Rusty Parka News
Rusty Parka News Vol. 59 Issue 3 www.nspcentral.org Summer 2021 Division Director’s Report Summer is here, bike patrolling is in full swing and the division staff is already plan- ning this coming winter events. After a season of pandemic quarantine everyone is excited to get out and get back with friends and colleagues face to face around our division. Our first division event is the 2021 Division Fall Meeting in Galena, ILL. We will be celebrating 80 years of Central Division excellence to the National Ski Patrol. By 1941, the Central Division had been established. Our own Mont Ripley patrol formed in 1936 joining the newly formed NSP in 1938. Speaking of establishing new patrols we have added 5 new bike patrols in 2021 Mike Schons within the Central Division! Think of how far we have gone in 80 years and where Division Director we could possibly go, and expand to, in the next 80 years. In 1941 there were around 1500 patrollers across all the divi- sions. Today the Central Division is over 7200 strong. I find it excit- ing that we are on the verge of another growth period as we welcome Parka Picks Bike Patrols and other outdoor activities. Logo Design Contest P. 3 Helping us grow is one strategic function of the National Board. This year we have four members of the Central Division running for a seat Recruit for the Future P. 17 on the board. This is great for our division. We need members on the board who will represent us at the National level.
