Hello and Happy New Year everyone!

As I write this it’s just a few days before Christmas, and it’s not looking very much like winter,

however will hope that will change by the time you read this.

Another year is in the books, and if you are like me, your slamming it shut! I have no words other than to start by paying respect to a long standing member we recently said goodbye to. For those who do not know, Senny Wegner passed away recently. He has been a long-time member and attended most every trip and will be missed.

At the time of writing this article, our Midwest trips are proceeding as drive-up. There is still room on our trips to Powderhorn and Houghton. We have quite a few day trips planned for you as well with the full details included as always in this newsletter. Interested members should read further for all the details and if applicable, get their registration in today, to ensure they are accounted for.

The Board is beginning the planning process for Spring Banquet 2021, with a possibility of an in-person once again. One thing is for certain, is the election of officers with the positions of

President and Social Chair being open this year. We are working out the details, and nothing is set in stone as of yet, so make sure to read the upcoming newsletters for updates on how we will address the banquet and elections.

In conclusion, even Covid-19 will not stop us from going downhill. Even though skiing has its ups and downs this season. We will get through this together.

BIG SKY, MONTANA - POSTPONED UNTIL 2022 ______

Following consultation with the Western Trip Committee, the Executive Board voted unanimously on November 24, to postpone the ski trip to Big Sky from March 2021 to early season in 2022. The exponential increase in the number of COVID-19 cases makes it clear that our trip in March could result in new cases that could have a significant impact on the health of our members. The Board regrets the need to make this unprecedented choice. Yet, the Board cannot support proceeding in this environment.

Contractual obligations for payments that would be due to Winter Ski & Sports in early December are the primary driver for the timing of this decision. By making this decision now, you will have the opportunity to make your own plans.

All cash submitted to Gelandesprung for this trip will be refunded to you as quickly as is feasible. Any checks that you have sent to Gelandesprung during the past week will also be returned to you.

Myra Altschuler, Travel Protectors, will provide vouchers for the value of insurance if you purchased Option 2 or Option 3, for the trip. The vouchers will be good for two years and can be used for ski trips or for trips other than ski trips. If you purchased Option 1 ($25 pp.), you will receive a refund. Finally, if you still want to go to Big Sky during the week of March 13, 2021, WS&S will provide information to us about an option for you to use their services to put together your own group. Gelandesprung will provide this information to you when it becomes available to us. Except for informing you of this option, Gelandesprung will not be involved in the trip.

Mid-Week OVERNIGHT Ski Trip to BIG POWDERHORN MOUNTAIN RESORT Tuesday February 9th & Wedneday February 10th - 2021 GELANDESPRUNG Ski Club is going to BIG POWDERHORN for a Tuesday/Wednesday Overnight. Big Powderhorn is a 250-acre ski resort located in Gogebic County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Travel INCLUDES 1-night lodging at the Quality Inn, Ironwood (Based on Dbl Occupancy), Lift Tickets for both days, bus in the comfort of a Deluxe Motor Coach. Midwest Trip Policies 1. Membership to Sly Fox Ski & Snowboard Club or Gelandesprung Ski Club is required to go on a club sponsored ski trip. 2. Trip registration is on a first come, first serve basis. 3. All trip fees must be paid in advance before departure. 4. Each participant must sign a trip liability waiver and provide emergency contact information for each trip. 5. All trip participants must be 21 years of age and above.

General trip cancellation policy 1. Cancellations made 60 days prior to departure, full refund less $50 unless otherwise stated. 2. Cancellations made 50 to 14 days prior to departure for any reason will be charged a cancellation fee amounting to the trip deposit as stated in the trip guide or sign up form. 3. The Club will make the effort to recover costs such as hotel, lift tickets and meal expenses and refund these after the trip is completed however the initial deposit will be forfeited. 4. Any refunds will only be issued after the trip is completed. 5. Any separate written cancellation policies on the trip guide or sign up form will supersede those described above. 6.
