Alessandra Perrazzelli, Intesa Sanpaolo OUR SUPPORT TO ECO-INNOVATIVE COMPANIES

A SPECIFIC PIPELINE OF FINANCIAL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES Intesa Sanpaolo has been offering since 2006 a specific pipeline of financial products and services to support investments in renewable energies and energy efficiency. They aim the production of energy through the use of eco-compatible systems, such as hydroelectric, wind, solar thermal panels, photovoltaic installations, biomass and co-generation.

OUR INVOLVMENT AS EQUITY INVESTORS Participation, as equity investors or internal advisors, in energy and environmental projects is another primary objective for Intesa Sanpaolo. Main eco-innovative companies supported through equity participation: • Novamont, a mid company which developed Mater-Bi®, an innovative bioplastic that uses substances obtained from plants, such as corn starch, and biodegradable polymers obtained both from renewable and fossil raw materials. • Bioenergia Villa, a public-private joint venture including farmer’s cooperative, AEM, Coldiretti and Intesa Sanpaolo, which in 2009 set up a new biogas plant locally sourced from agricultural biomasses, byproducts and livestock effluents. • Termomeccanica Ecologia, a company active in the field of waste-to-energy and of technological water treatment both for civil and industrial use. Moreover, our large client base can be used for dissemination activities. Alessandra Perrazzelli, Intesa Sanpaolo MAIN STRENGTHS OF OUR APPROACH

 An integrated approach Due to the high degree of interdependency and complexity in financing climate change and environmental technologies, we have developed an integrated approach, putting forward a set of solutions to target all stakeholders involved in the eco business (start ups, SMEs, large companies, families, public authorities, Universities and research centres,..).

 An innovative approach We believe in the importance of boosting the dialogue among entrepreneurial, financial and academic world in the Energy and Environment field. • Training and preparing clean tech start ups to deal with potential investors represents an innovative role for a traditional financial institution. • The involvement of a bank in EU funded R&D projects gathering universities, research centres, companies, provides a valuable platform for discussion, exchange of information and best practices.
