PILTOWN GAA Website Policy www.piltown.kilkenny.gaa.ie Introduction This document contains the policy and guideline usage of the Piltown GAA website www.piltown.kilkenny.gaa.ie. The document applies to all branches of Piltown GAA including hurling, Gaelic Football, Camogie, Ladies Gaelic Football and all activities within the GAA Complex. The purpose of the website is to enable the club to publicise club activities, improve means of communication with members and the general public and also to be used as a general publicity forum for local, national and possible international use. In addition, it is intended as an online repository of club related historical information and images. It is an exciting and user friendly communication outlet to publicise GAA activities as being modern, presentable, popular and relevant to contemporary needs and interests. The website must at all times strive to use best practice software techniques and be consistently factual in content. It is essential that the information is frequently maintained, reviewed and up to date. All content must adhere to the principals of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The most successful and newsworthy of GAA web sites are regularly used by under age or younger members. It is important that while not wishing in any way to restrict the use of and accessibility to the site that it is recognised that there is a responsibility in maintaining the website in a purposeful, educational, newsworthy, attractive in design way and above all else, safe. The Guidelines for use of photography and filming, are outlined in the Piltown GAA Image Guidelines document. It applies to those that maintain the Club website. The guidelines are particularly applicable when photographs and images of under age players, teams and individuals are uploaded to the club website. Usage of the Piltown GAA website automatically assumes acceptance of all terms and conditions. Officer or Website Administrator. However, this person will be answerable to the Club executive. In addition, anyone involved in the updating of the website must be a Club member and also answerable to the Club Executive Standards The I.T. Officer will preside over design standards and will at all times seek to ensure the content is in line with best practice for sports based websites. The website has been developed using Google Sites technology. Registration An annual subscription will be paid to Bakers Security & Networks for maintaining the DNS The site will be part of the GAA website domain. DNS = Domain Name System – It translates Internet domain and host names to IP addresses. DNS automatically converts the names we type in our Web browser address bar to the IP addresses of Web servers hosting those sites. Example; www.piltown.kilkenny.gaa.ie The current cost is €26 per year. Payment is accepted via credit card or cheque or bank draft and can be made out to Baker Security & Networks 12 Hume St. Dublin 2 Content Updates ● The website will be updated regularly by the website administrator(s). ● News items will be accepted from branch PRO’s. ● Results and Fixture updates will be accepted from team managers. ● New features will be added when approved by the website administrator(s) and after appropriate design analysis ● Only material relevant to Piltown GAA Club and its members will be published on the site. ● Only material appropriate for all Club Members, including those under the age of 18 will be published on the website. ● The Piltown GAA website will adhere to the Guidelines set out in the “GAA Code of Best Practice in Youth Sport”* as well as national and international best practice guidelines for design, maintenance, accessibility and content. The procedure for reporting the use of inappropriate images or concerns related to site content is to contact in writing either the Club’s Children’s Officer and/or the Club Secretary The Children’s Officer / Secretary will review the issue raised with the Website Team and endeavour to resolve it as soon as practicable. When an issue raised, the image in question shall be taken down as soon as possible until the review is completed and a decision made as regards whether to re-post or keep the content off the website. Any decision will be fully communicated to the complainant. The Club’s Children’s Officer and/or the Club Secretary will contact other authorities as deemed appropriate. Users And Visitors Users and visitors to the Piltown GAA website must be fully aware of these terms and conditions and must use the website in accordance with the Acceptable Use Policy. Support And Guidance If a user or club member requires support related directly to the website or assistance on website usage, they should email [email protected]. However, only Club members can be provided with tuition. Some issues maybe escalated to GAA website support or similar. Piltown GAA or its members are not responsible for support related to ones own computer or network equipment or software other than site content. Piltown GAA is not responsible for any technical or other issues that may arise if the User downloads software from an external third party website (e.g. Acrobat Reader) or upgrade their browser software to enhance their usage of the Website. In addition, Piltown GAA is not responsible for support of sites that are referenced through links from the Piltown GAA sites Piltown GAA Club © May 2012 Page 3 PILTOWN GAA Website Policy www.piltown.kilkenny.gaa.ie Issues Any issues with items on the website should be brought to the attention of the Webmaster by emailing [email protected] Acceptable Use Policy Users must agree to abide by all applicable laws, regulations and codes of conduct and ensure that any content uploaded or distributed or stored do not infringe the rights of others. Piltown GAA club owns the copyright and all other intellectual property rights associated with the content save where otherwise stated. Users may not do any of the following without prior written permission from Piltown GAA: ● Reproduce the content or modify or in any way commercially exploit any of the content; ● Redistribute any of the content ● Remove the copyright or trade mark notice(s) from any copies of content made in accordance with these Terms and Conditions; ● Create a database in electronic or structured manual form by systematically downloading and storing all and any of the content. In accessing the Website, or any one of them, Users agree not to: ● Impersonate another person or use a false name or a name you are unauthorised to use or create a false identity or e-mail address or try to mislead others as to the identity or origin of any communications; ● Modify, access or make available data stored on a computer device which you have accessed through our network (unless otherwise permitted by the Website or these Terms and Conditions); ● Make available or upload files that contain software or other material, data or information not owned or licensed to you or collect information about others (e.g. names/addresses) without their prior consent; ● Damage, interfere with or disrupt access to the Website or do anything which may interrupt or impair its functionality; ● Make any commercial or business use of the Website or resell or commercially benefit from any part or aspect of the Website; ● Publish, post, distribute, disseminate or otherwise transmit defamatory, offensive, infringing, obscene, indecent or other unlawful or objectionable material or information; ● Threaten, harass, stalk, abuse, disrupt or otherwise violate the rights (including rights of privacy and publicity) of others; Piltown GAA Club © May 2012 Page 4 PILTOWN GAA Website Policy www.piltown.kilkenny.gaa.ie ● Make available, upload or distribute by any means any material or files that contain any viruses, bugs, corrupt data, "trojan horses", "worms" or any other harmful software; ● Falsify the true ownership of software or other material or information contained in files made available via the Website; Jurisdiction It is the Users responsibility to ensure that the use of the Website is not contrary to the laws of the user’s country of residence. Advertising and Sponsorship The Websites may contain advertising and sponsorship. Advertisers and sponsors are responsible for ensuring that material submitted for inclusion on the Website complies with applicable laws, codes and regulations. Piltown GAA exclude to the fullest extent permitted by law any responsibility for any error or inaccuracy appearing in any advertising or sponsorship material. Security We may use any personal data collected during your use of the Website in accordance with current data protection legislation. We take every precaution to protect your personal information. Children's Privacy The safety of children is very important to us. Whilst we will make every reasonable effort to ensure that children's privacy and other rights are not compromised, it is ultimately the responsibility of parents to monitor their children's Internet usage. Privacy ● Remember to close your browser when you have finished your user session.
