2018 AFL Premiership Match Gold Coast SUNS V North Melbourne 2018 AFL Premiership Match Gold Coast SUNS v North Melbourne In 2018 Cazalys Stadium, Cairns will host its eighth Toyota AFL Premiership match. We welcome the Gold Coast SUNS back to Far North Queensland, as the home team for the first time, to meet with North Melbourne, on Saturday, 24 March 2018 at 6:25pm. Date: Saturday 24 March 2018 Gates Open: 4:00pm Curtain Raiser: AFL Cairns Premiers Port Douglas v AFL Townsville Premiers Hermit Park Tigers – Time TBC Main Game: 6:25pm Gold Coast SUNS members can scan into the General Admission area. If they want a reserved seat they need to purchase through Gold Coast SUNS Football Club. North Melbourne members cannot scan in as it is a North Melbourne Away match. North Melbourne Members can contact North Melbourne Football Club for tickets (they have a small allocation available for Members) or they can purchase through TicketDirect. AFL Members with competing Club support (Gold Coast SUNS or North Melbourne) can scan into the General Admission area. If they want a reserved seat they need to purchase through Ticketdirect – see methods below. Corporate Hospitality Packages & Official Match Day Function available directly through AFL Cairns. JUNIOR POLICY Children aged 6-14 as at 1 January 2018 are eligible to purchase a junior ticket. Children aged 5 and under as at 1 January 2018 are entitled to enter the ground at no charge; however they must not occupy a seat. Persons aged 15 and over as at 1 January 2018 are classified as an adult, unless they hold valid Concession identification. CONCESSION POLICY A person must have the appropriate form of concession to purchase a concession ticket. They must present the relevant concession documentation at point of purchase and upon entry to the ground. A second form of identification (e.g. drivers licence, Medicare card, credit card) may be requested when purchasing or utilising a concession ticket to verify the concession entitlement. Patrons holding one of the following cards are eligible to purchase a ticket at the concession rate; o Centrelink issued: Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)* o Department of Veterans’ Affairs card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs issued Pensioner Concession Card* o Full time secondary or tertiary student cards** o Centrelink issued: Health Care Card (HCC)* * Note: Cardholders only (not their dependants listed on the card) are entitled to the concession price. ** Excluding International Student cards. Patrons are required to take appropriate care for their sun protection and hydration. • The AFL advises that it may (without notice and at its sole discretion) delay the start time for Saturday night matches up to a maximum of 30 minutes from the scheduled start time. Note: These conditions should be read in conjunction with the Conditions of Entry to an AFL Venue - http://www.afl.com.au/tickets/conditions-of-entry Frequently Asked Questions: • What time will the gates open? 3:30pm for those wishing to attend the Curtain Raiser. • Is there a curtain-raiser match? Yes – AFL Cairns Premiers Port Douglas v AFL Townsville Premiers Hermit Park Tigers • Can I bring my own seating into Cazalys Stadium? Picnic rugs are permitted. Folding chairs are not permitted. • Can I bring a bag into Cazalys Stadium? Yes. However, bag searches will take place at the gates, which will slow your entry as there is generally queuing for bag checks. We encourage all patrons not to bring bags to Cazalys Stadium unless essential. • Is there cloaking available at Cazalys Stadium? No. There are no cloaking facilities at Cazalys Stadium. • Can I bring food and drink into Cazalys Stadium? Yes. Water and non-alcoholic beverages in plastic or cardboard packaging which have not been opened can be brought into Cazalys Stadium. Food items which are homemade such as sandwiches, biscuits and cakes, provided they are packaged in plastic, non-dangerous packaging, can be brought into Cazalys Stadium. Drinks and food can only be brought into Cazalys Stadium in soft cooler bags. Esky’s of any size are not permitted. • Can I bring alcohol into Cazalys Stadium? No. Fines apply to patrons caught trying to ‘smuggle’ alcohol into Cazalys Stadium. • Can I bring an umbrella into Cazalys Stadium? Yes. Umbrellas are permitted but please respect other patrons around you. • Can I take photos at the match? Yes. Personal cameras are permitted. • Can I buy food at Cazalys Stadium? Yes. Food will be available from several canteens around the stadium. • Can I buy alcoholic beverages at Cazalys Stadium? Yes. Cazalys Stadium is a licensed venue. Alcoholic beverages must not be taken into or out of Cazalys Stadium. It is an offence for minors to purchase or consume alcohol or for persons to supply alcohol to minors. Alcohol may not be consumed in the DRY AREAS of Cazalys Stadium. Excessive consumption of alcohol will not be tolerated and intoxicated and disorderly patrons will be refused entry and/or further service and/or asked to leave the venue. • Can I smoke at Cazalys Stadium? No. Cazalys Stadium is a non-smoking venue. • Will there be transport available to and from Cazalys Stadium? Yes. There will be buses departing from Lake Street Bus Terminal from 2:00pm until 4:30pm to bring patrons to Cazalys Stadium before the match. At the conclusion of the match buses will depart Cazalys Stadium (Tills Street Gate) and run express to Lake Street Bus Terminal. • Can I use my Health Care Card to purchase a concession priced ticket? Yes, see AFL Junior and Concession Policy - http://www.afl.com.au/tickets/junior-and-concession-policy Prohibited Items: For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all patrons, staff and event participants, the following items are not permitted into Cazalys Stadium: • Alcohol; • Opened soft drink or water containers; • Cans / glass; • Torn-up paper; • Musical instruments; • Whistles; • Folding chairs • Flags with handles exceeding 1.6 metres; • Fireworks / flares / laser lights; • Rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, bicycles; • Animals (guide and hearing animals may enter); • Audio recording equipment* / video cameras; *Audio visual equipment may be permitted for those parents whose children participate in the Auskick / Little League competition. • Folding chairs; • Any large article that cannot be placed under a seat; • Any device or item that in the opinion of Cazalys Stadium or AFL Cairns management has the potential to cause injury or public nuisance or inconvenience to other patrons .

The squad will be trimmed down to 25 players before they leave on Wednesday 18th of April to Wagga Wagga, NSW. There has been a good spread of players across the regions with players coming from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Darling Downs, Sunshine Coast, South Queensland and Gold Coast. At this stage there are 6 NEAFL players named in the squad of 34 including debutant Ryan Holman, formally of Goondiwindi. Other notable selections include experienced Country representatives Matthew Walsh, James Rozynski, Angus Munro, Tyson Upton, Sam Brown, Nick Tomlinson, Caleb Brown, Michael I’Anson and Jesse Derrick. Former Adelaide Crow and SANFL star Nick Gill, who joins former Western Australian Country Rep player Daniel Lewis as key inclusions. Both are current players in the AFL Cairns competition. Several clubs increased their support over the last year including 2018 Premiers West Coast Eagles, surprise 2018 Preliminary Finalists Melbourne and this year’s ‘bolter’ the second-placed Brisbane Lions. Reigning AFL Premiers West Coast Eagles had the biggest increase lifting their support base by a huge 186,000 (+34%) to 733,000 to be Australia’s second most widely supported AFL club. E Melbourne surprised many by getting within one victory of a first Grand Final in nearly two decades in 2018 and this run to the Preliminary Final has helped boost Melbourne’s support by 44,000 (+22.2%) to 242,000 while the Brisbane Lions have increased their support by 84,000 (+19.5%) to 515,000. Other teams to increase their support over the last year include the Fremantle Dockers who moved into the new Perth Stadium in 2018 up by 14,000 (+3.9%) to 371,000; Port Adelaide which saw support increase 17,000 (+6.6%) to 276,000; North Melbourne for which support increased 16,000 (+7,6%) to 226,000; and the GWS Giants up by 13,000 to 190,000.

ANSWER: On 19 July 2020, the Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, Premier and Minister for Trade, extended the Year of Indigenous Tourism to 2021 due to the impacts of COVID-19. The Palaszczuk Government is investing $10 million over two years for Indigenous tourism development and growth as part of the Year of Indigenous Tourism. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tourism experiences are an iconic part of Queensland’s tourism sector and a strong economic driver, as the sector supported $505 million in visitor expenditure and employed nearly 2500 people on a full-time basis before the COVID-19 pandemic. Key initiatives of the Year of Indigenous Tourism include: • $7 million Growing Indigenous Tourism in Queensland Fund • Our Country Tourism Business Development Service • Advance Queensland One Business program, for Indigenous business innovators and entrepreneurs • Indigenous experience, marketing, festivals and events • The scoping of the potential to establish a peak Indigenous tourism body.     AFL QUEENSLAND COACHING COURSES 2016 EVENT SCHEDULE This document can be found on the AFL Queensland website: www.aflq.com.au > Coaching > Events or CLICK HERE Registration After selecting your course, coaches must register – CLICK HERE Coaches will receive course specific information by email the week leading into the event. Coaching Courses Junior / Youth / Senior All Coaching Coaches are spilt between Junior, Youth and Senior. All coaching staff must be currently accredited to participate in a game (including assistant coaches). The course will run approximately from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. Coaches who are updating will only be required to attend a half day, however are encouraged to remain for the full day for personal development. Lunch will be provided. Coaches will be required to attend inside and outside activities on the day. Coach accreditation is current for four years, requiring course updates to remain currently accredited. Further, coaches must re-register every year using your Footyweb login, to register yourself as actively coaching this season and to ensure personal details are accurate. To re-register each year, CLICK HERE Master Class The Master Class sessions are delivered by Australia’s leading coaches from AFL, NEAFL or Academies. It’s an ideal setting for coach networking and personal upskilling. Master Class events are at no charge to the participant*. Participants can attend the Master class to update their accreditation, however they will be required to pay the $88 accreditation fee. Teachers / Get Active Queensland Accreditation Program (GAQAP) Teachers are welcome to attend community coaching or GAQAP courses to receive their Level 1 Accreditation.
