5. Events

Junior Events will be played on Saturday 10th July 2021 with play starting at 9am. Cadet Events will be played on Sunday 11th July 2021, with play starting at 9am. The right is reserved to alter the schedule of playing times and/or table for any match. Entrants, if absent at any time when scheduled to play, are liable to disqualification from the event.

All competitors must report to the control table on arrival and must not leave the venue without first obtaining permission from the Referee.

The Championships will be played under the Laws of Table Tennis and Table Tennis Tournament Regulations. ITTF Regulations for International Competitions apply except those relating to matters covered by items marked (X) in these regulations

6. Invitations will invite up to 32 boys and 32 girls for each Singles category. Ranking invitations for Cadets will be based on the top 28 boys and girls in the April 2021 Cadet Ranking List, and ranking invitations for Juniors will be based on the top 28 boys and girls in the July 2020 Junior Ranking List. Up to 4 wildcards per category will be invited at the sole discretion of Table Tennis England. Seeding will also be based on the stated lists, and at the discretion of the Referee. Should athletes decline their invitation, the next eligible player listed on the appropriate ranking list will be invited, up to position 50. Athletes can only compete in the singles event which they have been invited.

Entry to the Doubles events will be restricted to 16 pairs for Cadet boys, 16 pairs for Junior boys, 16 pairs for Cadet girls, 16 pairs for Junior girls and 16 pairs for Junior Mixed Doubles. Players are only entitled to play in the doubles category in the age group which they have been invited to play in the Singles event eg. if invited for Cadet Boys singles only they can only play in Cadet Boys Doubles. Eligible singles players will be invited to submit their partners’ names on their entry form. Entries will only be accepted provided a correctly completed entry form is received from both partners with payment by the closing date. If any of the Doubles events are oversubscribed, pairs will be excluded on the basis of last entry in, first out, however: in the Mixed Junior Doubles – pairings which include a male in the top 8 of the July 2020 Junior Ranking List or a female in the top 8 of the July 2020 Junior Ranking List will be given priority.

Any entrant whose nominated doubles partner does not enter will be withdrawn from that event. Should a doubles partner withdraw after the draw has been completed, Table Tennis England may invite the remaining player to nominate a replacement partner of a similar or lower standard in order to maintain the integrity of the competition.

Due to possible Covid restrictions in place nearer the event, we may be required to cancel the Doubles element of the competition; should this be the case a full refund will be given.

The tournament referee reserves the right to cancel any event for which fewer than 8 entries are received and to hold qualifying competitions or merge events if necessary. No entry will be accepted after the draw, however, Table Tennis England reserves the right in in exceptional circumstances to invite additional wildcards to fulfil vacant gaps in the groups.

7. Formats The format of the Singles categories will be group stages played to the best of 5 , 11 up, 6 players in each group with top 2 players going through to knockouts. All groups played on 2 tables, matches played to the best of 5 games, 11 up. Knockout matches played to the best of 5 games, 11 up. The top 8 seeds will get a bye to the Last 16 stage. There will be no consolation event.

Doubles matches will be played on a knockout basis, played to the best of 5 games, 11 up.

Any Variation of this policy will be published on the Table Tennis England website.

8. Weighting There will be no Ranking points awarded for this event

10. Eligibility Table Tennis England will only invite athletes for the above event who:

• Are affiliated to Table Tennis England, holding a valid Table Tennis England Player ‘Compete’ membership (formerly ‘Player Member’) and in good standing • Are eligible to represent England in ITTF and ETTU approved competitions and have valid proof of British Citizenship • Are not currently under disqualification or suspension under the rules of Table Tennis England or ITTF & ETTU • Are not currently serving any sanction for an anti-doping rule violation under any relevant anti- doping rules

11. Withdrawal of invitation Table Tennis England retains the right to withdraw an invitation from an athlete under any of the following circumstances:

• The athlete is no longer eligible for this event. • Any exceptional circumstances, which in the reasonable opinion of Table Tennis England, justifies the withdrawal of the athlete concerned.

Any athlete who is withdrawn will immediately be notified of the decision and the reason and will have a right of review in accordance with the Right of review process.

12. Clothing Competitors are required to display their name on the back of their playing shirt at all times when playing. Therefore, please ensure that you are prepared for the event by having your name displayed on the back of any shirts you intend playing in.

Clothing must comply with ITTF Reg. 3.02.02. No parts of a tracksuit may be worn during play except with the Referee’s permission. Players must wear rubber soled shoes and clothing which complies with Table Tennis England Tournament Regulations. ITTF Regulation 3.2.2.9 applies for finals only (X)

13. Equipment Tables: Butterfly Europa 25 Nets & posts: Butterfly Balls: Butterfly R40 Ball 3* plastic ball (white) Flooring: Wooden Sprung Floor The tournament will be played on 16 tables with minimum court size 10m x 5m. There will also be a number of practice tables available in the hall.

14. Mobile Phones Mobile phones are not permitted to be used within the match court area and should remain somewhere safe within your bag or with a parent or coach attending the event. Any player caught using their phone during time out, change of ends or during matches will forfeit the match.

15. Racket testing Racket tests may be implemented at this event, randomly selected according to ITTF regulations.

16. Trophies Suitably engraved medallions will be awarded to the finalists.

Competitors should note that Table Tennis England retain the ownership of all Perpetual Trophies but each winner will continue to receive a medal as currently provided. If a player requests permission to retain a trophy for a period of time, this is acceptable providing the player signs a guarantee of safe return form.

17. Covid Restrictions and directives The health and wellbeing of all our players, volunteers, suppliers and staff remain the key priority of Table Tennis England during this period of uncertainty. We will continue to update and implement any protocols in response to Government/ DCMS guidelines and directives as they unfold.

ANTI-DOPING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM FOR U18s This form is to be completed in respect of any player who is aged 17 and under, by a person having legal responsibility for the player.

I, having legal responsibility for the player, confirm that I have read the Table Tennis England Anti- Doping Rules and Regulations (Appendix P) and that I hereby acknowledge the player being bound by these Rules and Regulations.

Individuals aged 16 or older may give consent for the processing of their personal data themselves. Table Tennis England require parental consent to process personal data for children under 16, including entries. Table Tennis England also require parental consent for children under 16 to take part in activity.

Table Tennis England uses the above information only for the purpose of administering the competition. To facilitate the running of the competition, the information will be shared with the appointed event committee/organisers in order that the event can be arranged and delivered.
