On National Philanthropy Day this year, we celebrated the legacy of Victor J. Harriss. Mr. Harriss left a joint $10,000,000 estate gift to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation and Cape Breton University. The gift was left in hopes of improving his community after his death. Finally, our little Niel Planetta, the youngest fundraiser this year, raised money for the Operation Heart campaign with the help of his family and friends. This was especially important to Niel and his family because he was born with a cardiac condition and his mom credits the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with saving his life.

We often focus on teaching kids, informing them about the right thing to do and how to do it. This year, kids taught us about how precious our healthcare is and how kindness goes a long way to making Cape Breton a healthier place to live. We are grateful for every gift we receive.
