DANCE Classes in Shotts Bon Accord The new union, COMMUNITY, was created by the merger of Social Club the ISTC and KFAT (the steelworkers' union and the knitwear and shoe workers' union), both with a well-known history of Every Monday & working on behalf of workers in their respective communi- ties, eg Motherwell, Bellshill, Coatbridge (steel), and Airdrie, Tuesday evenings Lanark, and Uddingston (knitwear, shoes). The new union has around 50,000 members and in Scotland the regional office is in Motherwell and can be contacted by telephone on 01698 304567. COMMUNITY seeks to recruit those who are employed but who have no union to represent them. Willie Paterson, Regional Officer, says, "We intend to be pro- active in the communities where we are known and our track record of good trade unionism will, we hope, stand us in good stead. We aim to be the new listening force within the areas where our members live and to offer support against injustice and discrimination. We are pleased to be associ- ated with Shotts Bon Accord FC and we have members who actively support this club." COMMUNITY wishes SHOTTS BON ACCORD FC every success in season 2007 / 2008 PAGE 37 PAGE 2 MATCH REPORT MORE ACTION PHOTOS FROM MATCHES Sectional league Cup Group 2 Saturday 4/8/07 Wishaw Juniors 2 - 2 Shotts Bon Accord On an absolutely miserable day, at possibly the only Junior ground without any semblance of protection against the elements, Shotts struggled through to take a point against the team which had effectively ended our interest in the SLC so surprisingly last season. Wishaw began the livelier and within five minutes of the kick-off, SBA were caught a swift counter attack. Stewart broke free from the left, getting on to the end of a long clearance the result a goal. It was 1-0. Bon Accord responded almost immediately and Gardner headed home from a corner three minutes later. If we thought it was going to get better then, we were very much mistaken as Wishaw continued to give as good as they got and, after 16 minutes they again took the lead when that man Stewart headed home a long diagonal cross from the right. 2-1. The thing is, it shouldn't have happened at all as the ref completely ignored the Bon Accord's cast-iron claims for a penalty kick immediately beforehand as Sneddon was hacked to the ground as he took possession of the ball. Gardner got Shotts out of trouble a few minutes later when he slammed a shot from outside the box low past the Wishaw keeper's for a very impressive equaliser. Halftime Wishaw Juniors 2 – SBA 2 The second half wasn't two minutes old before Hugh Kelly was sent off. John Boyack and Brian Jack came on three minutes later for a tired Sneddon and an injured McLintock. On another day Shotts could have scored five or six in the last third but we must also mention that Wishaw could have registered their second consecutive win against the Bon Accord but for a brilliant double-save by Andy McCondichie long before the end. • Planning for Natural Heritage: Planning Advice Note 60
Planning for Natural Heritage: Planning Advice Note 60 PAN 60 August 2000. (paragraph 47 updated 14 January 2008) Scotland's Natural Heritage A UNIQUE RESOURCE 1. Scotland has a great diversity of natural heritage, from its wild mountains and rugged coastlines, to the gentler beauty of its farmland and the designed landscapes of town and countryside. This diversity of landscape, habitat and wildlife reflects Scotland's varied geology and topography and its special geographical and climatic position on Europe's North Atlantic seaboard. Scotland's unique natural heritage is also the product of past and present interactions between natural processes and human activities. Thus, while there is little today which can be considered entirely natural in strict ecological terms, there is much to be valued and conserved. 2. The Scottish Executive is committed to safeguarding Scotland's unique natural heritage and integrating the principles of sustainable development into all Government policies. This Planning Advice Note (PAN) provides advice on how development and the planning system can contribute to the conservation, enhancement, enjoyment and understanding of Scotland's natural environment and encourages developers and planning authorities to be positive and creative in addressing natural heritage issues. It complements the National Planning Policy Guideline on Natural Heritage (NPPG 14), with examples of good planning practice in relation to natural heritage drawn from across Scotland highlighted in a number of case studies. People and Natural Heritage 3. Natural heritage may be found anywhere. It is not confined to designated areas or the special, the vulnerable and the rare. The accessible and familiar natural heritage which people experience from day to day makes an important contribution to local identity and the quality of life.

Its ability to generate jobs as well as income makes it a key part of the drive towards economic growth, and as such it is supported by government through a variety of initiatives. One initiative in 2003 aimed to energise and invigorate practitioners into using internet based technologies more fully in their business practices. This supported the widely held belief that the internet can and does enhance and improve business efficiency.

Lanarkshire Biological Information Survey Commissioned by Lanarkshire Biological Recording Forum Funded by Scottish Natural Heritage D Mellor, Paisley February 1999 Contents 1. Terms of reference 2. Introduction 3. Reports of interviews and questionnaires 4. Themes 5 Findings 6 Summary 7. Contact addresses of relevant organisations 8. References to literature 9. Glossary 1. Terms of reference This study was commissioned by Lanarkshire Biological Recording Forum (LBRF), and funded by Scottish Natural Heritage, to provide baseline information to underpin a development process plan leading towards a Local Biological Records Centre for North and South Lanarkshire. The remit of this study was to: - • Assess the format and scope of biological information currently held by organisations within the Lanarkshire area. • Assess the recording priorities of partner organisations • Assess the priorities of potential customers of biological information. The study was to carried out through visits to a number of organisations, with postal questionnaires to others, to examine their current use of biological information, their holdings of such information and likely future developments in information needs. This was then used to gauge the likely benefits of sharing access to information between the organisations that might justify the development of an local biological information centre to provide a biological information service for the area The list of organisations came from membership contact list of the LBRF and the mailing list of the North Lanarkshire Biodiversity Action Plan group. 2. Introduction Biological recording is the organised gathering, storing and synthesising of information about the natural environment. Its uses are varied, ranging from academic interest through to meeting national and international obligations for wildlife conservation.
