There was a civil war in Guatemala and Blessed Stanley Rother's life was in danger, but he could not leave his people without the sacraments, so he decided to stay even though he could have easily gone home to Oklahoma. Blessed Stanley Rother gave his life so others could have eternal life. 3.The room in which Blessed Stanley Rother was martyred. (You can see the place of the bullet holes in the ground on the right side of the picture.) The room has been 2 converted into a chapel and Fr. Craig (from Plymouth, IN) came down to visit with us and we celebrated Mass in this chapel on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul. Kind of ironic that we would celebrate Mass of two men who gave 3 their life for Christ in the room where a priest gave his life for Christ. 4.We prayed at the sight of Blessed Stanley Rother's heart and blood, which is inside of the church. After he was martyred, the people kept his heart and his blood and entombed them in the church where Blessed Stanley Rother ministered to his people. His heart 4 was with his people in Guatemala, which is why it remains in Guatemala. We prayed for all of you at St. Vincent's, those in our diocese and Mount Saint Mary's Seminary - that all of our hearts may become like Blessed Stanley Rother's and love one another as Christ has loved us. EARN REBATES ON YOUR BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING! The cost of getting your child ready to go back to school this fall is expected to be more this year.
