Period of quarantine as well as mode of quarantine have also been specified therein. Now there is a demand from various quarters for providing paid quarantine facility to those who can afford the same. Hence Government are pleased to issue the following guidelines for paid quarantine facility to those who return from other states as well as foreign countries: 1. Returnees may be given the option of choosing to spend the quarantine period in hotel on payment basis. 2. Tourism Department may prepare a statewide list of hotels, with 10 hotels in each district, which may be offered to the returnees. This list should be shared with the respective district administrations. 3. The willingness of the hotel to house returnees may be ascertained beforehand. The rate at which rooms are offered may also be obtained. All hotels must have facility for direct booking of rooms. 4. The statewide list of hotels may be uploaded in the NORKA site, along with necessary details to facilitate direct booking by potential returnees. 5. The returnees may choose a hotel from the list of hotels in their native district. 6. They should book directly with the hotel, and obtain a voucher as proof of booking. 7. Upon arrival, all returnees will be taken to the designated quarantine center arranged by the District Administration. From there, returnees holding valid hotel vouchers will be permitted to depart to the receiving hotels, using transport to be paid by them, with the approval of district administration. Their arrival and check in will be confirmed by staff posted to these hotels. 8. The hotel management and staff should be given training in managing the returnee guests, including the precautions to be taken while serving them food and cleaning the rooms. 9. District Administration should put in place a system to monitor the hotel inmates on a daily basis. 10. The facility of paid quarantine should be available for returnees from other states as well. 11. Returnees who are already in quarantine facilities should also be given the option of moving out into paid quarantine facility. 12. In the initial phase, KTDC hotels will be made ready to receive guests. Hotel Mascot and Hotel Chaitram have already been made ready. The holy shrine dedicated to Lord Ayyappa is situated 914 metres above sea level amidst dense forests in the rugged terrains of the Western Ghats. Lord Ayyappa is looked upon as the guardian of mountains and there are several shrines dedicated to him all along the Western Ghats. The festivals here are the Mandala Pooja, Makara Vilakku (December/January) and Vishu Kani (April). The temple is also open for pooja on the first 5 days of every Malayalam month. The vehicles go only up to Pampa and the temple, which is situated 5 km away from Pampa, can be reached only by trekking. The Autonomous Women’s Movement in Kerala: Historiography By Maya Subrahmanian1 Abstract This paper traces the historical evolution of the women’s movement in the southernmost Indian state of Kerala and explores the related social contexts. It also compares the women’s movement in Kerala with its North Indian and international counterparts. An attempt is made to understand how feminist activities on the local level differ from the larger scenario with regard to their nature, causes, and success. Mainstream history writing has long neglected women’s history, just as women have been denied authority in the process of knowledge production. The Kerala Model and the politically triggered society of the state, with its strong Marxist party, alienated women and overlooked women’s work, according to feminist critique.
