Dave Krieg Named Honorary Host for Golf Classic Nick Askew, Sports Information Director 6/30/2010 1:10:32 PM EUGENE, Ore. – The NCU Golf Classic, a 16-year tradition in Eugene, announces that three-time Pro-Bowl Quarterback Dave Krieg will be the Honorary Host for the 2010 event. The NCU Golf Classic takes place on September 13th at Shadow Hills Country Club and is preceded by the second annual Dinner at the River on September 12th at Valley River Inn. Dave Krieg played 19 seasons in the NFL, including 12 with the Seattle Seahawks. Krieg is one of the most prolific passers in NFL history, ranking among the top-15 all time in most passing categories. He threw for 261 touchdowns in his career (10th all-time) and holds Seattle Seahawk records for pass attempts, passing yards, and touchdowns. Krieg also played collegiately in the NAIA at Milton College, where he famously began his career as the seventh- string quarterback but became the starter during his freshman year and never looked back. “This event is so special to me because I, too, attended an NAIA school,” said Krieg. “Smaller schools hold a near and special place in my heart. These athletes play for the love of the game. By giving 100% of the proceeds to athletic scholarships, the athletes are not only getting one last opportunity to participate in organized sports, but also are provided the chance to become the very best they can be. Skills learned from the scholarships so charitably provided to these athletes may give them the extra edge in life, relationships and in business.” The NCU Golf Classic features both morning and afternoon flights, in order to accompany the over 200 golfers that are expected to take part in the event. Among the added features of the tournament are a breakfast provided on the day of the event for the first flight, as well as a barbeque lunch for all golfers between the two rounds of golf. For the second year, the Nike Merchandise Tent will be on hand, with each golfer being given a $50 credit to spend on Nike golf apparel and supplies, discounted to wholesale prices. Once again on the night before the golf tournament NCU will also sponsor the Dinner at the River, a scholarship auction and dinner event at Valley River Inn, including a poolside reception and wonderful food. .
