FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Download high-resolution versions of these photos. LAS VEGAS BALLPARK Metal wall panels add major appeal to best-of-the-year minor league ballpark Minor league baseball has been in the middle of a building boom the past few years, as local communities and team owners are seeing value in raising the amenities level for their area stadiums. The Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin, Nev., home to the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators franchise, is one of the latest entries to this list, with features that include a swimming pool, breathable-mesh seating and a 126-ft.-wide LED video screen. Its design draws inspiration from both the surrounding desert and the aeronautical history of its corporate owner, the Howard Hughes Corp. Howard Hughes, himself, bought the 25,000-acre parcel that is now Summerlin in 1952, though development didn’t begin for the master-planned community until the 1980s, a decade after Hughes’ death. The $150 million stadium is a new anchor in Downtown Summerlin, a shopping, dining and entertainment district that opened in 2014. Fans first filled the new facility’s seats as the 2019 baseball season began. The local team, formerly the 51s, is also owned by the Hughes Corp. It was renamed the Aviators in 2019 with the stadium’s opening to honor that organization’s original aviation emphasis. Devin Norton, project designer with the San Francisco office of HOK, the stadium’s architects, says he wanted his plans to recognize both the unique qualities of the site and the corporation’s history.

from the valley healthSYSTEM SUMMER 2018 Helpful tips FOR YOUR ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY WARREN WOLFE SHARES THE KEY TO HIS RECOVERY INSIDE: Find specialized care for hard-to-heal wounds Join us for upcoming seminars, the Diabetes Fest and more! Compliments of Our bodies are amazing machines, and just like our well-used vehicles and appliances, they need repairs from time to time. Our knees, hips, spines, shoulders, elbows, feet and ankles are often taken for granted until something wears down or breaks. Sometimes orthopedic surgery is an emergency, and other times, it’s your choice to have a knee or hip replacement, spine surgery or rotator cuff repair. If orthopedic surgery is in your future, this edition will prove invaluable. First, we introduce you to Warren Wolfe, who underwent successful spine surgery, followed by inpatient rehabilitation at Valley Hospital. We also brought together orthopedic surgeons, nurses and physical therapists to provide helpful tips. We highly encourage anyone considering joint surgery to attend one of our Joint Camps (see page 4 for details). To enhance your recovery, we offer outpatient physical therapy at Centennial Hills, Desert View, Spring Valley and Summerlin hospitals. In this edition, we also discuss the importance of wound care. Pahrump resident Phil Schultz received effective outpatient treatment at Desert View Hospital after visiting facilities in other states. Left untreated, a wound can morph into a more serious medical situation, so be sure to ask your physician for a referral to one of our wound care centers. Our goal is to always make the hospitals of The Valley Health System your number one choice.

LAS VEGAS AREA HIGH SCHOOLS August 2008 Page 1 of 6 INTRODUCTION The following driving instructions to Las Vegas area high schools are based upon per- sonal observations, and are meant to assist high school sports officials with finding the desired school quickly. The route given is usually the easiest one, written for somebody who is driving across town and has never been to the school before, and may not always be the “best” or shortest route. Because you didn’t have to pay anything for this guide, no liability is accepted for errors of any sort. If you do find obvious errors, please send them to <[email protected]> so that they can be corrected (if you don’t, they won’t be). The most recent version of this document may be found at “www.adrielec.com/soccer”. Special thanks to Jack Young for his many contributions, especially for the small outlying schools. TERMINOLOGY 1) “US95” is coincident with US93 and I-515 at various places. 2) “I-215” is used to refer to the beltway which circles throughout the outer portions of the Las Vegas Valley. This entire roadway will be under construction for many years to come. Some parts are officially called “Clark County 215” for now, but it is all the same road. 3) Distances were measured from the center of each intersection. Some urban intersec- tions are 0.1mi to 0.2mi wide, and may affect your readings. Allow for tiny errors in the distances indicated. OTHER LOCAL VENUES Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex • From US95 and Lake Mead (WEST) (northwest valley), go west (on Lake Mead Blvd) 0.3mi to Tenaya, turn right, go 0.2mi, turn left at first driveway.
