Adrenaline can only carry a rag- tag group of freedom fighters so far, and as the films credits rolled our heroes were left to cope with heavy losses in private. In the Shadow of Yavinthe first volume in a new series from Dark Horse set in the era immediately following of A New Hope puts these themes front and center. The Rebellion, in its superficial moment of triumph, is weaker than ever. The base on Yavin IV has been compromised and abandoned, leaving the Rebels Star Wars Volume 1: in the Shadow of Yavin through space and searching desperately for a new home while the Empire hunts them with renewed purpose. Meanwhile deep in Imperial space Han is assigned to do what he does best, work the criminal underbelly at the behest of Mon Mothma. On the Imperial capitol world of Coruscant this all goes to hell and Han and Chewie find themselves on the wrong end of an Imperial double-cross and stranded in the lower levels of Coruscant with a couple of fan-favorite bounty hunters on their tails. We find Darth Vader demoted to babysitting the second Death Star being constructed over Endor and trying to wrap his head around that whole Luke Skywalker thing.

The Clone Wars Sourcebook The Galactic Republic By Keith Kappel and Ryan Brooks THE REPUBLIC [Diplomacy +8] [Sense Motive +9] R The Galactic Republic has been the presiding governing body throughout the galaxy for nearly twenty-five millennia. It was comprised of hundreds of thousands of star systems and thousands of sentient races. Those who served the Republic faced many adversities over the millennia. The Clone Wars were no different. After a thousand years of peace and prosperity the Republic had become corrupt and decadent. There were those who came to realize this deterioration of Democracy and pledged to break away from the crumbling government. When this splitting came to all out war, the Republic was ready to answer their enemy’s call to arms with their Grand Army of the Republic. Below is a chronicling of those who remained loyal to the Republic and for what it stood. Palpatine – Supreme Chancellor of the Republic Palpatine began his political career on his home world of Naboo at approximately twenty years of age. Fresh out of Naboo’s public service, his early political life was mired with a series of dissatisfying electoral defeats at the hands of several opponents. For nearly a decade, Palpatine maintained a drab governmental portfolio until his first big break occurred when he was thirty years old. The incumbent senator of Naboo, Vidar Kim, was assassinated in a drive-by shooting, leaving Palpatine running unopposed. He was elected to serve as the next Senator of the Chommell Sector’s thirty-seven inhabited worlds. Taking his position on the Senate floor on Coruscant, Palpa- tine led a fairly meek political record.

ABSTRACT Mythic narratives exert a powerful influence over societies, and few mythic narratives carry as much weight in modern culture as the Star Wars franchise. Disney’s 2012 purchase of Lucasfilm opened the door for new films in the franchise. 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the second of these films, takes place in the fictional hours and minutes leading up to the events portrayed in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Changes to the fundamental myths underpinning the Star Wars narrative and the unique connection between these film have created important implications for the public memory of the original film. I examine these changes using Campbell’s hero’s journey and Lawrence and Jewett’s American monomyth. In this thesis I argue that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was likely conceived as a means of updating the public memory of the original 1977 film.

Star Wars™ Customizable Card Game™ JABBA’S PALACE RULES SUPPLEMENT Jabba’s Palace, the fifth expansion set for the Star Wars™ Customizable Card Game™, contains 180 dramatic new cards depicting the exciting events of the opening scenes of Return of the Jedi™. Jabba’s Palace Location Deployment Rules — The vile gangster Jabba the Hutt operates a remote desert fortress, far away from Mos Eisley. The layout of Jabba’s Palace and other Tatooine sites is shown in the diagram above. New Mos Eisley Location Deployment Rule — To keep the three sites that represent the Mos Eisley spaceport together, the Tatooine: Mos Eisley site now has a special deployment rule: it may not be separated from the Cantina or Docking Bay 94 by any other exterior sites. Tatooine: Desert — This location’s game text prevents characters with landspeed less than 2 from moving away; however, it does not affect the movement of vehicles (and other kinds of movement, such as shuttling, landing or taking off). Characters with landspeed greater than 1 can move through the desert, but the average character needs some kind of assistance. (For example, a vehicle could be deployed to rescue characters trapped in the desert, and some interrupt cards temporarily add landspeed.) The Tatooine: Desert is the first non-unique location which may be used as a starting location. Thus, the rule on choosing locations at the start of the game is amended as follows: If players choose the same unique starting location, they set them aside temporarily and choose again. Jabba’s Palace: Audience Chamber — This new site location represents the center of operations for Jabba the Hutt’s crime syndicate, a very powerful organization with influence throughout the galaxy.
