India Insurance Employees' Association ALL INDIA INSURANCE EMPLOYEES’ ASSOCIATION LIC BUILDINGS SECRETARIAT ROAD HYDERABAD 500 063 (E-mail: [email protected]) Cir.No.31 / 2020 27th August, 2020 To All the Zonal/Divisional/State/Regional Units Dear Comrades, Re: Campaign against LIC IPO picks up momentum The Secretariat of AIIEA that met through video conferencing on 2nd August 2020 decided to intensify the agitation on the issue of listing of LIC and its disinvestment. The Secretariat called upon our units to meet Members of Parliament, Chief Ministers of States and heads of political parties all over India and seek their support to our struggle. Subsequently, the Joint Front of Unions consisting of AIIEA, Federation of LIC Class I Officers’ Associations and NFIFWI that met through video conferencing on 5th August 2020 took similar decisions. Following these calls, our units have started the campaign in right earnest. Our comrades of Udumalai Branch under Coimbatore division met Shri Shanmugasundaram, MP (DMK), Pollachi Constituency, and hand over our union's letter seeking his co-operation to protect LIC in Public Sector. He assured that he will give his voice against the Govt move on listing LIC's share in Stock Exchange. Our comrades of Bhopal Division met Congress MP (Rajya Sabha) Sri Digvijay Singh and handed over the Shri Digvijay Singh, RS, Congress (Bhopal) memorandum. Bhopal Comrades talked to BJP MP from Bhopal Lok Sabha Constituency Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur through video conferencing and apprised her of the pernicious impact of LIC disinvestment. Comrades of Raipur Division (CZIEA) met Smt. Chhaya Verma, Rajya Sabha MP (Congress) and submitted the memorandum. They met Sri Amit Jogi, State President of Janata Congress and submitted the memorandum. Sri Jogi supported our demand and assured to move a resolution against the proposed IPO of LIC in the upcoming assembly session of Chhattisgarh assembly. Raipur comrades also met and submitted memorandum to Sri Charandas Mahant, Speaker of Chhattisgarh Assembly and Smt. Jyotsna Charandas Mahant, Congress MP (Lok Sabha) and apprised them of the issue. Both of them agreed with our understanding and assured to write to the Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Prime Minister and Finance Minister in support of our LS, BJP (Bhopal) demand. Raipur comrades also met Lok Sabha MP from Raipur Sri Sunil Soni (BJP) and sought his intervention. He assured to write letters to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister flagging our concerns. Comrades from Durg-Bhilai centre under Raipur Division met Sri Vijay Baghel, Lok Sabha MP (BJP) from Durg constituency and submitted memorandum. Comrades of Bilaspur Division under Central Zone met Sri Arun Sao, Lok Sabha MP (BJP) from Bilaspur and discussed the issue of LIC’s Smt. Chhaya Verma, RS, Congress (Raipur) listing. Sri Amit Jogi (Raipur) Sri Charandas Mahant (Raipur) Sri Sunil Soni, LS, BJP (Raipur) Sri Vijay Baghel, LS, BJP (Durg) Sri Arun Sao, LS, BJP (Bilaspur) Our comrades of Kanpur Division discussed the issue of LIC Listing with Lok Sabha MP from Kanpur Sri Satyadev Pachauri (BJP) over phone and as suggested by him handed over the memorandum to his son. The Hon’ble MP directed his son to send scanned copies of the memorandum to the Union Finance Minister and Sri Anurag Thakur, Minster of State for Finance. Sri Satyadev Pachauri, LS, BJP (Kanpur) Kanpur comrades led by Com. Rajiv Nigam, General Secretary NCZIEF met the Lok Sabha MP from Akbarpur Lok Sabha constituency Sri Devendra Singh Bhole and discussed the issue. Kanpur comrades also met the Lok Sabha MP from Jhansi (BJP) Sri Anurag Sharma with a request to take up the issue with the appropriate authorities. Comrades of Varanasi Division met the PRO of the Lok Sabha MP from Varanasi as well as Sri Devendra Singh Bhole, LS, BJP (Akbarpur) the Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi and submitted the memorandum with a request to forward the same to the PM. Similarly, comrades of Gorakhpur Divisional Unit met the representative of Lok Sabha MP from Gorakhpur Sri Ravi Kishen and submitted the memorandum. Comrades from Deoria Branch under Gorakhpur Division met Sri Ramapati Ram Ttripathi, Lok Sabha MP from Deoria (BJP) and submitted the memorandum. Gorakhpur Sri Anurag Sharma, LS, BJP (Jhansi) comrades also met Smt. Sangeeta Azad (BSP), Lok Sabha MP from Lalganj. A delegation of Aligarh Divisional Unit of NCZIEF met the Lok Sabha MP from Hathras constituency, Sri Rajvir Diler (BJP) and handed over the memorandum. Sri Ramapati Ram Tripathi, LS, BJP (Deoria) Smt. Sangeeta Azad, LS, BSP (Lalganj) Sri Rajvir Diler, LS, BJP (Hathras) A delegation of NZIEA Jaipur comrades under the leadership of Com. R. C. Sharma, President NZIEA met Sri Ram Charan Bohra, Lok Sabha MP (BJP) of Jaipur and Sri Ram Kumar Verma, Rajya Sabha MP (BJP) and submitted memorandum in support of our demand. A delegation of our comrades from Sawai Madhopur met the Lok Sabha MP from Dausa constituency Smt. Jaskaur Meena (BJP) and submitted the memorandum. Comrades of NZIEA met Sri Sumedhanand Saraswati, Lok Sabha MP (BJP) from Sikar (Rajasthan) and submitted the memorandum. A delegation of NZIEA Divisional Committee Jalandhar led by Com Sri Ram Charan Bohra, LS, BJP (Jaipur) Ved Kumar, met Shri Santokh Singh Chaudhary, MP (Lok Sabha) Congress, and handed over the memorandum against listing of LIC. He assured that he will take the matter with the Party High Command and in the Parliament. Delegation of NZIEA Ludhiana Division (Khanna Branch Committee) under the leadership of Com. Amarjit Singh, Vice President, met Sri Shamsher Singh Dullo, MP (Congress) Rajya Sabha & handed over the memorandum against LIC's IPO. The delegation requested him to place/convey our point of view to PM/FM & at Party forum. He assured the delegation to do the needful. Sri Ram Kumar Verma, RS, BJP (Rajasthan) Smt. Jaskaur Meena, LS, BJP (Dausa) Sri Sumedhanand Saraswati, LS, BJP (Sikar) Sri Santokh Singh Chaudhury, LS, Congress Sri Shamsher Singh Dullo, RS, Congress (Jalandhar) (Punjab) Comrades of Gadchiroli Branch of Nagpur Division submitted the memorandum to Lok Sabha MP of Gadchiroli-Chimur Constituency Shri Ashok M Nete (BJP) and requested him to take up the issue with the Finance Minister. He assured the delegation to take up the matter at the party forum. Comrades of Gondia Branch unit of Nagpur Division submitted memorandum to the Representative of Shri Praful Patel, Sri Ashok M Nete, LS, BJP, Gadchiroli-Chimur MP (Rajya Sabha) as Sri Praful Patel is now staying in Mumbai. Comrades of Bhandara Branch under Nagpur Divisional Unit submitted memorandum to the MP of Bhandara-Gondia constituency Sri Sunil Mendhe (BJP). The MP assured to forward our representation to the Finance Minister of India. Similarly, Comrades of Wardha unit met Sri Ramdas Ji Tadas, Hon'ble MP of Wardha and submitted memorandum on LIC IPO Issue. A delegation of Insurance Employees Association Jamshedpur Division along with Com. Pradip Kumar Mukherjee, President, ECZIEA, met Smt. Geeta Korah, Congress M.P. West Singhbum, Jharkhand and apprised her of the LIC IPO issue and its effect on our economy. Sri Sunil Mendhe, LS, BJP, Bhandara-Gondia Sri Ramdas Ji Tadas, LS, BJP (Wardha) Smt. Geeta Korah, LS, Congress, W.Singhbhum After a patient hearing, she assured to write to the PM and FM against the move. She further assured her help and support on this issue in future. A delegation of Hazaribagh Divisional Unit submitted memorandum against disinvestment/IPO of LIC to Dhanbad MP (BJP) Sri Pashupati Nath Singh at Dhanbad. A delegation of Jamshedpur Divisional Unit met and submitted memorandum to the Lok Sabha MP of Jamshedpur constituency Sri Bidyut Baran Mahato (BJP) and requested to take up our issue. Comrades of different bases of Murshidabad district under Kolkata suburban division met Sri Abu Taher Khan, Lok Sabha MP (TMC) of Murshidabad and handed over the memorandum against LIC Listing. He gave a patient hearing and assured that he would oppose this move in the Parliament. India, Morocco ink pact in MSME sector India and Morocco have entered into an agreement for deepening cooperation in the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector, a move will facilitate transfer of Indian technologies and products to the North African nation. The MoU was signed in Rabat, Morocco, recently by National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), Chairman and Managing Director Ravindra Nath and Director General, Maroc PME, Rabri Barrazouka, an official statement said. Through this MoU, NSIC and Maroc PME will work together to enhance cooperation opportunities between the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of the two countries. Besides, Alka Arora, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME, who is leading the official delegation along with CMD NSIC to Morocco, held bilateral meetings with Othman El Ferdaous, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Trade and Digital Economy and with other related departments. “Both sides discussed the ways and means to synergize the strengths of both countries in MSME Sector in terms of capacity building, sharing of experiences, exchange of business delegations for creating linkages, JVs and technology transfers,” the statement added. The Ministry of Tourism has engaged National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) in January, 2021 to conduct study on India and the Coronavirus Pandemic: Economic Losses for Households Engaged in Tourism and Policies for Recovery. As per the results of the study: Due to overall economic slowdown during 2020-21, tourism economy or tourism direct gross value added (TDGVA) saw a fall of 42.8 percent in Q1; 15.5 percent in Q2 and fall of 1.1 percent in Q3.
