Bro. Oscar de Alfonso Ortega GRAND LODGE OF SPAIN Report on the Grand Assembly of the Grand Lodge of Spain, held in Barcelona on 11 March 2017. a a Rt. W. Bro. Gerald William Hales PGInsp., PGOrg. The Grand Lodge of Spain holds its annual Grand Assembly in March of each year, usually in Barcelona or Madrid. It is at this meeting that appointments are made and roles are changed, as well as it being a major ceremonial occasion. a a This year, 2017, it was also the occasion of a correction to what was regarded as something of an anomaly. In the list of rankings, the position of Grand Secretary was placed considerably lower on the list than the importance of his work seemed to warrant. The Grand Master therefore changed this, so the position of the new Grand Secretary, V. W. Bro. José Masó Portabella, is now next to the Grand Treasurer. a a The previous Grand Secretary was promoted to Grand Inspector. There are six Grand Inspectors, each with a specic responsibility. These are Ritual, Education and Training, Relations with other Masonic Bodies, The Grand Master Communication, Institutional Relations & Publication. M.W. Bro. Oscar de Alfonso Ortega I am pleased to report that this last position is now in the hands of Rt. W. Bro. Norman Wheatley. • 2011 Commission Report
2011 Commission Report BAJA CALIFORNIA The two groups representing the Grand Lodge of Baja California have now worked out an agreement that has unified them again into one regular Grand Lodge. The leaders of the two groups have signed the agreement, and have assured it will be ratified by both groups. The Grand Lodge of Baja California has now satisfied the standards for recognition. BULGARIA There continues to be no progress in the unification of Freemasonry in Bulgaria. Since they have previously been determined to meet the standards for recognition, there is no interest on the part of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria in entering discussions with the Grand Lodge AF&AM of Bulgaria, either for unification or for establishing a treaty to share the jurisdiction. Both of these Grand Lodges appear to practice regular Masonry, and both were of the same origin until they split in 2001. This Commission has urged the two Grand Lodges to resolve their differences for the past seven years to no avail; therefore this issue will not be addressed again until the brethren in Bulgaria reach some type of agreement. CYPRUS The United Grand Lodge of England and the Grand Lodge of Cyprus have reached an accord whereby they will both share the jurisdiction of Cyprus, and have established fraternal relations among themselves. The Grand Lodge of Cyprus therefore now meets all the standards for recognition. CZECH REPUBLIC The Grand Lodge of the Czech Republic informed us that an irregular body calling itself the Czech National Grand Lodge was recently created by a group of dissident members who defected and formed this new organization.

This document was designed as a tool for assessing and guiding water management in Spain. Although Spain’s future water policy is outlined in the conclusions, the points mentioned refer only to quantitative aspects of water resources without considering the issue of quality. Nonetheless, the issue of river, reservoir, lake and groundwater pollution is taken into account in the assessment section. Amongst the problems related to water quality, the White Paper notes, among others, problems related with Directives 91/271/EEC and 91/676/EEC. A brief summary of the main issues addressed is provided below. Surface water and diffuse pollution. In general, diffuse pollution produced by agricultural and livestock raising activities (e.g.

The Architecture of Joseph Michael Gandy (1771-1843) and Sir John Soane (1753-1837): An Exploration Into the Masonic and Occult Imagination of the Late Enlightenment Abstract In examining select works of English architects Joseph Michael Gandy and Sir John Soane, this dissertation is intended to bring to light several important parallels between architectural theory and freemasonry during the late Enlightenment. Both architects developed architectural theories regarding the universal origins of architecture in an attempt to establish order as well as transcend the emerging historicism of the early nineteenth century. There are strong parallels between Soane's use of architectural narrative and his discussion of architectural 'model' in relation to Gandy's understanding of 'trans-historical' architecture. The primary textual sources discussed in this thesis include Soane's Lectures on Architecture, delivered at the Royal Academy from 1809 to 1836, and Gandy's unpublished treatise entitled the Art, Philosophy, and Science of Architecture, circa 1826.
