Staines, Jr. 3302 Decker Place Edgewater, Maryland 21037 The only lists of Hydrophiloidea Laccobius spangerli Cheary (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae, Helophoridae, Laccobius reflexipenis Malcolm Hydrochidae, and ~~draenidae)from the KnochrU* ~ublon~U*(Fall) mid-Atlantic region are Ulke (1902) who Knochra* conror* (LeConte) reported 46 species from the District of Enochrur consortus Green Columbia and Matta (1974) who presented Enochra* perplexU* (LeConte) keys and short descriptions for the 49 Ochraceur (Me1sheimer) aquatic species of Hydrophilidae of KnOChrus cinctus (Say) Virginia. Knochrus pygraeus nebalosas (Say) The following checklist records KnOchrur 103 species (75 aquatic) from Maryland. Knochrur reflexipennis (Zimmerman) Comparable lists of aquatic species for KnOChrus blatchleyi l other states are as follows: 53 species H~drObiu*fasciper (L.) recorded from Florida by Young (1954) ; 20 Hydrobius relaenus (Germar) species recorded from Ithaca, New York by nydrobius toridus LeCoate Swenson (1982); 67 species from North and S~erchopsistessellata* Ziegler South Carolina by Brigham (1982); and 47 Paracyrur nanur (Fall) species from Illinois by Wooldridge P8rac~rus subcapereus (1967). Hatch (1965) recorded 128 species Crenitu1u8 sutu~alistLeConte) (of all habitats, 102 aquatic) from the raculicOllis Muleant Pacific Northwest; and 88 species (67 Helocorbus bifidus (LeConte) aquatic) reported from New York by Leng C~lbiod~tablanchardi Horn (1928).
