Secretary of the Meeting: Kevin Stannard 82a Station Road, Mickleover, Derby DE3 9GJ Tel 0777 1612 789 WELCOME TO THE 88 TH N ATIONAL B EMROSE T ROPHY T RIAL Welcome once again to the Bemrose, one of the most popular trials in the calendar! If you're a returning regular, good to see you again – you won't find too much different! After all, we both know what you like and why you keep coming back. If this is your first time here, just keep your fingers crossed for some decent weather, keep those feet up (as much as possible) and enjoy the day! See you next time – why not bring your mates? Expect the traditional single lap of 35 miles or so. In terms of the Section Groups and the order they're tackled, it's business as usual with that familiar combination of Derbyshire slimestone early on, progressing to Staffordshire gripstone later in the day. Not ridden wet limestone before? It's interesting, to say the least. If the route is the traditional one then so are our Section Teams who've ridden this area since the dinosaurs, but this time they're aiming to ease things up for those on the Easy Route. This is partly to accommodate some changes to the Class structure which has now been simplified, so that its only possible to ride in any particular class on ONE of the 3 routes. For example, last year you could have ridden, say, the 0ver 40 class on either the 50/50 or Easy routes. We have also added 0ver 60 and Twinshock classes. Of course, if you're up at the sharp end of things, don't go expecting too much in the way of such soft leniency! We still mean to extract some sneaky marks from you top lads! On a wider note, we're looking to both the future and the past. As with most trials, we need more support to run next years event and especially need more riders to bring an observer. You know the score – no observers, no trial. We're also interested in receiving any historical data we can get about the trial which we could incorporate the programs. It may also help us secure the future of this and other trials from external pressure! Anything you've got, just let us know: old programmes or results and photos, especially if they're dated and can be used to identify specific places used over the years. And finally, you may like to have a look at this http://www.britishpathe.com/video/bemrose- motor-cycle-trial/query/Motorcycle+trial FINAL INSTRUCTIONS All riders must sign ON prior to starting and OFF on completion of the trial. The start/finish area will be at Haslin Farm (OS map reference 119/SK 066 692 GB grid). Riders will start in pairs from 9:00am and in numerical order at one-minute intervals. Time penalties as NSC. The time limit is 7 hours . All competitors must hand back their riding number at the finish. Please bring TWO cans of fuel. • Leave one can at the Start and refuel when returning to the Start area after doing Kidtor, Staden and Wrights. • Put the second can on the fuel trailer. NB The fuel trailer may not return to the Start area until later, possibly 5pm onwards. This is a STOP ALLOWED trial. Marks will be lost as follows: 0 Clean 1 Footing once 2 Footing twice 3 Footing more than twice 5 Failure 5 When requested by a rider rather than attempt the section 10 Not attempting a section when called upon by an official (in addition to any marks subsequently lost in that section) 10 For missing a section The harder/Bemrose route will use Orange bibs and follow normal red/right and blue/left section markers. The easy route will use White bibs and will follow their alternative route shown by yellow/left and white/right markers. The 50/50 route will use Green bibs and follow the Easy route unless the section is marked with a 50/50 sign, in which case they do the harder route in that section. If in doubt, ask the observer. This event is routed along or across public rights of way. Competitors must exercise caution and reduce speed accordingly near other path users. Be especially careful near horses. SLOW DOWN, STOP AND SWITCH OFF YOUR ENGINE, IF NECESSARY All competitors will be covered by the ACU blanket insurance scheme. Refreshments will be available at the Start / Finish Area Please do not re-visit sections after the trial. Access is allowed for the event only and visits by unauthorised riders can seriously endanger the prospects of using these areas in future, especially in the Peak District National Park.
