We still do not have any information on when we will be open to programming. Sorry ! With Election Day moving closer, the Center has received many calls about mail in applications. These applications can be found at www.votespa.com or you may call the Center and we will mail one out to you. Please note that all request for mail in ballots must be received by October 27, 2020. The Center will be closed on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 for election day. The Center will be open as a polling place. The answers to quiz on page 4 can be found on page 6. Service is available by reservations Monday – Friday from 9am -1pm. Due to the Coronavirus there are some new rules and procedures that must be followed. They are: Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance by calling 412-828-1062 Only 3 people are allowed on the bus at a time for social distancing Masks must be worn when on the bus Drivers will take your temperature and may refuse service if they feel you are sick No one will be picked up without a reservation, no exceptions PLEASE NOTE: We reserve the right to refuse to ride you, if we are made aware of you not following CDC Guidelines. ( Which are: Wearing masks, social distancing, not being in large groups or going to or having a visitors from a state on PA quarantine list) Please call us with your questions or more information. This is a temporary schedule and hope to resume full operations when the Covid 19 virus restrictions are lifted. We will keep you updated on any changes. .

    1 QUADRUPLE RUM CAKE Makes 1 cake (8 to 12 pieces) By Dennis W. Viau; modified from an Internet recipe. This rum cake is strong with rum. The first time I ate it I told my friend, “It burns a little going down.” This is a scratch cake. Having a good formula and method of preparation for making scratch cakes is always an excellent addition to your kitchen library of recipes. Equipment Needed: A large Bundt pan, preferably cast aluminum with a nonstick surface, 10 to 15 cups. Ingredients: For the Cake: ½ cup (85g) crushed walnuts 1½ cups (312g) granulated sugar ½ cup (113g) butter; softened, at room temperature 3 tablespoons + ½ cup (118ml) cooking oil (corn, canola, grapeseed, or vegetable); divided 1¾ cup (7½ ounces / 213g) all-purpose flour or cake flour ¼ cup (21g) corn starch 4 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup (200g) instant vanilla pudding mix, or make your own mix (see below) ¾ cup (175ml) whole milk 4 large eggs ¾ cup (175ml) dark rum 4 teaspoons vanilla extract For the Rum Syrup: ½ cup (113g) butter or clarified butter ½ cup (118ml) water ¾ cup (156g) granulated sugar 1 teaspoon salt ½ cup (118ml) dark rum For the Caramel Rum Sauce: ½ cup (85g) brown sugar ½ cup (100g) sugar ¼ cup water 2 tablespoons butter ½ cup (118ml) heavy cream 3 tablespoons dark rum For the Topping: 1 cup heavy cream (double or even triple these proportions for a large crowd) 1 tablespoon sugar 2 tablespoons dark rum To Make Your Own Pudding Base: ¾ cup nonfat dry milk powder ¾ cup cornstarch 1 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon salt 90.

It also may be her easiest. Use your favorite canned tomatoes for this and don’t be scared off by the butter. It gives the sauce an unparalleled velvety richness. 2 cups tomatoes, in addition to their juices (for example, a 28-ounce can of San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes) 5 tablespoons butter 1 onion, peeled and cut in half Salt Combine the tomatoes, their juices, the butter and the onion halves in a saucepan. Add a pinch or two of salt. Place over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Cook, uncovered, for about 45 minutes. Stir occasionally, mashing any large pieces of tomato with a spoon. Add salt as needed. Discard the onion before tossing the sauce with pasta. This recipe makes enough sauce for a pound of pasta.
