Many people were involved in this journey, but key characters are three. Luca Marini, director of “Secche di Tor Paterno” Marine Protected Area, shared the project idea of field research on molluscs and trusted me in accomplishing the task. Without his active support in finding funds for the field activities this project would have not started. It is no exaggeration saying I would not have even thought of entering the PhD without him. Bruno Sabelli, my PhD advisor, is another person who trusted me above reasonable expectations. Witness of my childhood love for shells, he has become witness of my metamorphosis to a researcher. Last, but not least, Manuela, my wife, shared my objectives and supported me every single day despite the family challenges we had to face. Many more people helped profusely. I sincerely hope not to forget anyone. Marco Oliverio, Sabrina Macchioni, Letizia Argenti and Roberto Maltini were great SCUBA diving buddies during field activities. The species of the Pyramidellidae collected during several expeditions in the south-eastern part of the North Atlantic Ocean are listed, with locality data, depth ranges, and notes on nomenclature, system- atics and distribution. The samples classified with the genera Pyramidella, Tiberia, Adelactaeon, Odetta, Folinella, Ondina, Odostomia, Puposyrnola and Eulimella (partly) are dealt with in this paper. In total 64 species are reported from the research area, 32 of which are described as new to science; one nomen novum is introduced. Lectotypes of Aclis tricarinata Watson, 1897, Monoptygma puncturata Smith, 1872, Odetta sulcata de Folin, 1870, and Odostomia sulcifera Smith, 1872, are designated and figured. -

Dipòsits litorals i registre paleontològic del Pleistocè superior al litoral SW de la serra de Tramuntana 13.1. Introducció Aquesta zona, situada al SW de la serra de Tramuntana, va des del cap de cala Figuera fins a Sant Telm, i es caracteritza per presentar un litoral molt variat, així hi ha cales amb platges d’arena, costes rocoses baixes, i costes rocoses altes. Essent les darreres les més abundants. Referent als materials que afloren al litoral també són molt variats, i la majoria són materials plegats del Mesozoic, encara que hi ha materials del Miocè, Pliocè i Pleistocè adossats als material més antics. Del Quaternari hi ha bons afloraments que van del Pleistocè inferior fins al Pleistocè superior i Holocè. 13.2. Antecedents històrics Aquesta zona compta amb treballs de pioners del Quaternari mallorquí. Hermite (1879) i Fallot (1922) citen el jaciment pleistocè de Camp de Mar, emperò el primer treball seriós d’un jaciment és el realitzat per Bauzà (1946a) que tracta del jaciment citat. Uns quants anys més tard, és estudiat per Muntaner (1955a), i aprofita al mateix treball per a presentar l’estudi i descripció del jaciment de Peguera. El 1960, Cuerda (1960) comunica la presència d’un dipòsit del Neotirrenià a Santa Ponça. El jaciment de Peguera ha estat el més citat o el que més s’ha dibuixat a diferents treballs del Quaternari mallorquí. Així Solé-Sabarís (1962) presenta un tall d’aquest indret i de Camp de Mar, i amb posterioritat, Cuerda (1975) presenta un tall de Peguera i el descriu; Crabtree et al. -
