Nigel Adams MP & Lord Clement-Jones head up Rock the House and Film the House 2016 competition

Member of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee and Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Music, Nigel Adams MP (Selby & Ainsty) and Liberal Democrat Lords’ Spokesperson for The Creative Industries, Lord Tim Clement-Jones are to head up Rock the House & Film the House for 2015-2016 in Parliament.
The Rock the House & Film the House competitions raise awareness of the importance of protecting Intellectual Property Rights (copyright) among legislators and the general public.
Musicians and film makers enter their original material to their MP, who choose one entrant per competition category to represent their constituency. A panel of top industry executives then presides over choosing the finalists and winners, who go on to have their pieces played in Parliament (or an equally prestigious venue as last year at the US Ambassadors private residence, Winfield House!). Additionally, winners receive an array of prizes, from equipment, festival slots, exposure, recording sessions, radio and TV airplay and more.
The RTH and FTH competitions have huge cross party support and are a great means for Parliamentarians to engage with the UKs grass-roots creative future, and provides the creative community with a vehicle through which to communicate directly with their MPs in a fun, unusual way. Nudging the importance of protecting IP up the political agenda.
As with previous years, all press releases, reminders and support will be offered to Members’ offices in order to run the competition with the most ease. Assistance can even be given to help with the judging of entrants in necessary.

The timeline for this years’ competition is provisionally set as:
1st May – Applications deadline
31st May – MPs to have submitted their constituency entrants to the judges
20th June – Battle of the bands, London
4th July – Final awards in Parliament
