G od has granted us a new lease of life for another year w ith the prayer and hope that 2010 shall be a year of peace and joy for all and ‘to the praise of H is glory’ (Ephesians 1.14). In our spiritual journey, our im age of w ho w e are plays a vital role. T hey help us to develop a correct sense of identity in Christ J esus and help free us from the old bondage to old frustrations and inabilities. In his letter to the Ephesians 1. 1-14, Paul drew past, present, and future together. H e looked at the w ork of each of the Persons of the G odhead as it relates to you and m e. G od the Father, in eternity past chose us to be holy. H e predestined us to be adopted as sons, pouring out H is grace on us in Christ. G od the S on, redeem ed us through H is blood, bringing us forgiveness and lavishing on us gifts of w isdom and understanding. A ccording to R ichards*, even now w e are included in Christ’, and looking forw ard to the com plete fulfillm ent of G od’s plan and the glory that fulfillm ent holds for us. W hat a truth! G od had us in m ind as the focus of H is concern even before the creation of the universe. G od has been in full control of the grace w e now have. T he focused energies of G od have been spent for our redem ption because in Christ w e are significant to H im . A nd, w ith G od’s S pirit present in us all, w e have the pow er to live ‘to the praise of H is glory’. I pray that in 2010, w hatever w e say and do, w e m ight encourage each other to live to the praise of G od’s glory. Stephen Ade. * - Richards, L. This is a global, ecumenical movement of informed prayer and prayerful action, organised and led by Christian women who call the faithful together on the first Friday in March each year to observe a common day of prayer and who, in many countries, have a continuing relationship in prayer and service. The service is written by a different country each year and that country then becomes the focus of the world's prayers on the day itself, which begins as dawn breaks over the islands of Tonga in the Pacific and continues across each continent until the last services of this special day are held back in the Pacific,on the islands of Samoa, circling the world in prayer for 36 hours. This year the country chosen is Cameroon. The 2010 theme is; “Let everything that has breath praise God” For services in your area ask at your local church. However, it would be more optimistic to say 'Not cancelled - just postponed!' It has therefore been decided to start the new season on February 12th with the delayed lunch (weather permitting!) As there are no meetings in January, February 12th will be something to look forward to. By then the new programme of events for the alternate 'good' Fridays will have been arranged, with meetings in Cotherstone Village Hall at 2 pm, and outings. Contact Audrey, 01833 650270 or Marjorie, 650331. Members will have been saddened by the news of the death of Nan Hamilton on Christmas Eve. Thank you, and a Happy New Year. Marion Roberts The meeting on Friday 26th February will feature Tea, Chat and Games.
