Chairman’s Message Here we are on the threshold of what promises to be a tremendously exciting and fun packed WI year. Let’s see if we can all stand the pace as our diaries fill up with stimulating and nostalgic events to attend. FEDERATION NEWS Federations of Conference on 18 & 19 September 2015 at St David’s Hall, Cardiff. Twin rooms are still available at the Future Inn, Cardiff Bay to attend this special event at a cost of £63.00 per person B&B. We are taking bookings for the following events: Officers School : Monday 19 January 2015 at the Federation Office - 10.30am-noon and 7.30pm-9pm sessions available. The Federation welcome new or established officers alike to attend this workshop where all manner of WI business will be discussed and questions answered.

Group Convenors : Monday 23 February 2015 at 10am at the Federation Office. Please come along with your Group reports - discussions will follow on future events etc.

Fashion Show : Wednesday 25 February 2015 at 7.30pm at St Ethelwold’s Church Hall, Shotton. Clothes by Peacocks of Mold. Models of all ages, both men and women. Ticket £5.00 to include tea/coffee and ‘scrummy cakes’! To commemorate the centenary of the WI, we would like to borrow any photographs of Wedding Dresses and Swimwear, taken in the last 100 years, in order to make a display at the Fashion Show. Please send any items to the Office as soon as possible – remembering to put your name on the back so that they can be returned safely. Please also include an estimate of the date of the photo. Peacocks will also be handing out discount vouchers on the night!

Centenary Concert : Wednesday 25 March 2015 at 7.30pm at the Civic Hall, Connah’s Quay – a musical evening reflecting the past 100 years in music and up to the present day. More details to follow...

First Notice - Spring Council Meeting : Tuesday 31 March 2015 at 10.45am (doors open at 10am) at the Civic Hall, Connah’s Quay – come and join us at this special council meeting when historian Tony Waters will share his passion for the Titanic with stories of some of the Welsh on board from the seamen and the Countess to devoted millionaires and a baby! Heart Research UK will be on hand to collect envelopes of old jewellery for their ‘Treasure Chest Appeal’ and much more .... Tickets £2.50 available from the Federation Office.
