Sing City 2017 Guidelines & Application Form

Closing date for entries is November 10, 2017 (Friday).

Sing City this year will take place in three stages:

1. Heats – November 14, Tuesday at the College Street Centre, performances from 18.30pm (Please arrive by 17.30pm with your backings for the sound check)

2. Vocal/performance workshop with Sara King – November 18, Saturday 9.30am. This will be held at Music School (Nottingham , Greenwood Road site) for those who get through to the final.

3. Final – November 23, Thursday at NCN Clarendon, performances from 19.00pm.

The winners will then perform at our Christmas in the City concert on either December 4, 2017 at the Nottingham Albert Hall, or December 12, 2017 at the Royal Concert Hall!

In the past, we've found music teachers have been very helpful in preparing our contestants for the competition, so if you're entering please let your music teacher know.

It is really helpful if you can get your backings to us before 13th November so that we can check they work properly and give you the best possible chance to perform on the evening. We need it in a digital format (e.g. mp3/mp4) with no other voices on the recording. If this is a problem, please do talk to your music teacher at school or call us on 0115 947 6202.

Provisions Of Entry: 1. Entrants must be between 11-19 years of age 2. Entrants must attend a Nottingham City state school, academy or college (see following list)

Parental Consent

To participate in the Sing City competition, anyone under the age of 18 must have the signed consent of a parent or guardian. Please print this page and bring the completed form below with you on the first night, filled out by a parent or legal guardian.

Anyone who does not have parental consent will not be allowed to compete.

Photo Consent

I DO/DO NOT (delete as appropriate) agree that photos, videos and/or audio recordings may be taken of my child at any of the events and used for media purposes (please read below). There is a possibility that performances may be streamed live on Youtube and could appear on the NCN Monthly Music Show, for this to happen we will need your consent.

To help us comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and our Safeguarding Policy, we would like your consent before we take your child’s photo, use images, videos, recordings and quotes. These photos, video or audio recordings, and quotes may be sent out to the media with a press release, used in our publications, in exhibitions, on any social media sites (which include, but are not limited to YouTube and Facebook) and on partner websites in connection with this activity. Please note that websites can be seen throughout the world, and not just in the United Kingdom, where UK law applies.
