Drinnan Memorial Symposium and---returning for its third year, the Robert J. Genco Distinguished Speaker Series. Please review the wide range of courses. The offerings start on Wednesday with several regulatory/required courses and continue with last year’s addition of “hands-on” courses, this year featuring lasers and composite technology. 5-year Reunion Classes have the new ‘Remember When’ Reception to look forward to on Thursday night. It was a big hit in its inaugural year last year. The convenience of moving what had been the SDM Reception to a downtown location brought increased participation, reminiscing and fun for all. Take advantage of the affordable CE, visit the exhibitors to explore new products, materials and equipment and be sure to enjoy the conversation and camaraderie with colleagues and friends both old and new. Snyder Action Plan Amherst, New York 3. Existing Conditions The Snyder Business District is unique to the Town of Amherst and remains much healthier than other similar traditional business districts and residential neighborhoods throughout the region. An analysis of the area revealed a number of strengths that should be built upon. It also identified some of the challenges confronting the business district. The following findings provide a general overview of existing conditions within the Snyder Business District. 3.1 Location and Access As they say in the real estate community, it’s “location, location, location!” Snyder enjoys a key location near the geographic center of the Buffalo metropolitan area. It is often said that in Western New York, everything is “twenty minutes away.” In Snyder that statement is especially true. Down- town Buffalo, Buffalo- Niagara International Air- port, the Canadian border, Buffalo’s Museum Dis- trict, both campuses of the University at Buffalo, major suburban shopping areas, and even Niagara Falls, Lockport and Or- chard Park are all within an easy drive. The I-290 interchanges at Main Street and Harlem/ Sheridan are less than a mile from the center of Snyder, and access to the I-90 at Cleveland Drive and the Kensington Ex- pressway (NY33) at Harlem Road are only slightly further. In addition, the community is well served by public transportation on NFTA bus routes 30, 48, and 49, which link directly to the 123456789012345678901234567 123456789012345678901234567 subway at South Campus 123456789012345678901234567 123456789012345678901234567 Station and to downtown Buffalo. 123456789012345678901234567 12345678901234567890123456Regional Context Map 7 123456789012345678901234567 123456789012345678901234567 123456789012345678901234567 Parsons Team Page 6 of 67 Snyder Action Plan Amherst, New York 3.2 The Surrounding Community (See also Section 4 - Demographic Pro- file) Snyder enjoys enviable demographics as one of the most affluent and well-educated communities in the Greater Buffalo metropolitan area.

Nilsson) • Clarified the role of hydrophobicity, aromaticity and steric profile in model amyloid peptides. • Synthesized photoswitchable amyloid peptides with reversible properties. • Developed peptide-based inhibitors of Aβ-induced neurotoxicity. 2002–2004 State University of New York at Buffalo; Amherst, NY Research Assistant (Professor Richard P. Cheng) • Measured thermodynamic parameters for folding of coiled-coil peptides to determine helix propensity of natural and nonnatural amino acids.

To the north, Tonawanda Creek divides the town from Niagara County. The Town of Clarence is at its eastern border, with Transit Road as the dividing line. Amherst is set off from the Town of Cheektowaga, to the south, by Wehrle Drive and the NYS Thruway, I-90. At its western border, Niagara Falls Boulevard separates Amherst from the Town of Tonawanda; and the city of Buffalo borders it to the southwest near Main Street and Kenmore Avenue at Grover Cleveland Park. Amherst is 53.28 square miles or 33,600 acres and has a population (as of July 1, 2017) of 124,733.1 Setting and Geography Geography played an important role in the development of the Town of Amherst. Settlers were attracted by rich soil and timber resources and the water power of the creeks. Mills along the creeks were important to the farm economy of Amherst during the nineteenth century. Ellicott Creek, once called Eleven-Mile Creek, enters the town south of the Village of Williamsville and flows northwest, emptying into Tonawanda Creek not far from the Niagara River. Tonawanda Creek on the town’s northern border flows west to the Niagara River and eventually became part of New York’s Erie Canalway system.
