Doug Ford Fax: 519-337-3246 Premier of Ontario Legislative Bldg Rm 281, Queen's Park, Toronto, ON M7A 1A1 Dear Premier Ford, Unfortunately, we continue to see an increasing spread of the COVID-19 virus in Lambton County, despite being placed in the Grey-Lockdown zone one week ago. However, I was encouraged to hear your announcement this morning about expanding the network of pharmacies that will be able to administer the COVID-19 vaccine over the next two weeks. I hope that pharmacies in Lambton County will be strongly considered to receive the vaccine in the first phase of program expansion. I also understand that as part of the phase 2 rollout announcement, the province indicated that “hot spot” regions could receive additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to target those areas with ongoing high rates of deaths, hospitalization and transmission. These regions will be determined by data trends. Premier, I respectfully request that the Medical and Science Tables take a close look at the trends in Sarnia- Lambton during their next analysis. Residents in Sarnia-Lambton are anxious to see the spread of the virus subsided. Additional vaccines from the province would go a long way to reducing that anxiety. The New Democrat members are Gilles Bisson, Sara Singh and Tom Rakocevic; Liberal MPP John Fraser will take up the Independent spot. The committee was struck as an accountability measure because the PCs empowered themselves to amend or extend the emergency orders for up to the next two years, without requiring a vote or debate in the legislature. Bill 195, the enabling law, also requires the premier or a designate of his choosing to appear at the special committee to justify any changes to the sweeping emergency orders. Premier watch An RFP for the next leg of the Eglinton Crosstown tunnelling project will be issued today. Premier Doug Ford announced the move in Mississauga Tuesday alongside cabinet’s transportation overseers Caroline Mulroney and Kinga Surma. Three construction consortiums have already been shortlisted and are now able to present their detailed costing plans to Infrastructure Ontario.

Friday June 15, 2012. 1 Introduction Among the various leadership roles within a party caucus, few are less well understood than that of the whip. Party whips are often unknown in the public, rarely sit in their party’s front bench, and are seldom quoted in the media. In addition, very little academic literature exists on the roles and functions of the office. When discussion of a whip does arise, it is usually about the imposition of sanctions on another member for disobeying a whipped vote. Because of this, whips are perceived as the secret enforcers of party discipline, threatening and bullying members into following the party line. While maintaining party cohesion is a prime objective for whips, the role is much more complex than has been presented. This paper explores the dynamics of the whip within the broader context of party politics in the Ontario Legislature. Drawing on the existing literature, personal interviews, and experiential research, I identify the characteristics of the whip’s office unique to Queen’s Park and, more specifically, the current parliament wherein no party holds a majority of seats. This paper focuses on two questions: how a whip’s role is affected by organizational structures and minority government, and to what extent whips are able to maintain party cohesion.

OPSEU Summer of Action 2019 June 7, 2019 Doug Ford’s government has been very busy since last summer at this time, privatizing and drastically cutting public services, eroding labour rights, and leaving chaos and uncertainty in his wake. Every day they announce new ways they plan to screw over Ontario workers, including our members. It’s almost summer – a time for friends, family, and vacations. But it’s also the time when MPPs leave Queen’s Park to spend the summer in their ridings, where they travel the BBQ circuit, hold fundraisers, go to fairs and festivals and local events, and stage photo ops everywhere they can. Summer is when MPPs spend quality time with their constituents. This summer, let’s spend some quality time with our Conservative MPPs! Choosing issues that resonate Some issues resonate province-wide and other issues resonate strongly in local areas or regions due to local factors. Let’s pick a main issue or two to focus on this summer, and build pressure on our local PC MPPs on those issues. Here are some things to consider when picking an issue to champion: On which issue(s) do you think your targeted PC MPP is most vulnerable locally? Which issue is resonating province-wide at the moment? (E.g. education cuts, autism funding, climate crisis, etc.) Which issue do you and your region’s members consider to be a priority?
