Montreux Jazz Festival 2014 Japan Day 11 July 2014 48th Montreux Jazz Festival 4 – 19 July 2014 In 1967 the city of Montreux staged a music festival with the aim to revitalize the city. Over the years this small music festival has become one of the most prestigious cultural events of Switzerland and ranks among the top three Jazz festivals of the world. In 2014 the Montreux Jazz Festival is celebrating the 150th year of diplomatic relations between Japan and Switzerland with a special Japan Day on 11 July . Amongst numerous other collaborations in his career, Hotei most recently joined The Rolling Stones as a guest on stage in their March 2014 concert. An iconic and legendary star in his native Japan, Hotei currently lives in London and continues to be a forerunner in the global music scene. April (Foto: Botschaft von Japan) Mit seinem Lied „Battle Without Honor or Humanity“, dem Titelsong aus Quentin Tarantinos Meisterwerk „Kill Bill“, sowie seiner Rolle in dem Film “SF Samurai Fiction” zählt der Musiker Tomoyasu Hotei, der zudem als Produzent und Schauspieler aktiv ist, auch hierzulande mit zu den bekanntesten Japanern. Im vergangenen Jahr feierte Hotei das 35-jährige Jubiläum seines Debüts als Musiker. In diesem Frühjahr nun ist er zu einer Europatournee aufgebrochen, die ihn durch insgesamt acht Städte führt, darunter vier deutsche Städte. Obwohl er in Japan ein etablierter Star ist, zog Hotei vor fünf Jahren nach London, um von dort aus seine vielfältigen musikalischen Aktivitäten in Europa und weltweit neu zu starten. Introduction A FIRST music DJ is a part of the team/crew firstly, and must understand that the event and the games are The Show. The DJ's performance, however, can make or break the event. Hitting the cues, playing the right tunes, and being consistent, brings out a sense of professionalism that will endure the performance to everyone involved. This is a sporting event, not a radio-station, or someone's iPod, or even a club. The focus is much different. The music must be upbeat and positive, may contain interactive elements, and during matches can create tension and suspense. But the bottom line is that at the end of the day "everybody has a good time", including the DJ. This playbook is written with the intent of taking some of the guesswork out of "what to play and when". It is written with much love for this genre that I call Sportsmusic… The Goal Create a playlist of music that will not only be inspiring, motivating, and uplifting but one that will also create a positive atmosphere that promotes gracious professionalism. We will accomplish this by creating files that are edited to give a "tighter" flow to the games. Create a pattern that is easy to follow with limited chance for downtime or "dead-air". The Game Every year the organizers create a different "game" for the robots. But the pattern and process is the same for the DJ. The "M.C." introduces each team in a 3-team alliance, which plays another 3-team alliance. The robots get in place for part 1 of the match: The Autonomous Period, where the robots must compete without any human intervention.
