GRÄFENHAN, T. (2009): Contributions to the taxonomy of the ascomycete genus Cosmospora and its anamorphs. Z. Mykol. 75/2: 175-188 Keywords: taxonomy, morphology, phylogeny, DNA barcode, host fungus, host plant, Fusarium, Nectria, anamorph-teleomorph relationships. Summary: The hypocrealean genus Cosmospora was resurrected in 1999, mainly comprising mem- bers of the former Nectria episphaeria-group. For almost a century, anamorphs of various hypho- mycete genera were linked to different species of Cosmospora. These anamorphs include members of Acremonium, Chaetopsina, Fusarium, Stilbella, Verticillium, and Volutella. Thus, Cosmospora has long been assumed to be polyphyletic, but no formal taxonomic conclusions have been drawn. With this, it becomes apparent that known and accepted Cosmospora-anamorph connections need to be reviewed critically. For example, the anamorph-teleomorph relationship of Fusarium ciliatum with different nectriaceous fungi, viz. Nectria decora and Cosmospora diminuta, is discussed in de- tail. Ecologically little is known about Cosmospora spp.

Current Research in Environmental & Applied Mycology 5(3), 213–247, Doi 10.5943/cream/5/3/6 Abstract This paper includes the results of eco-taxonomic studies of coprophilous mushrooms in Punjab, India. The information is based on the survey to dung localities of the state during the various years from 2007-2011. A total number of 172 collections have been observed, growing as saprobes on dung of various domesticated and wild herbivorous animals in pastures, open areas, zoological parks, and on dung heaps along roadsides or along village ponds, etc. High coprophilous mushrooms’ diversity has been established and a number of rare and sensitive species recorded with the present study. The observed collections belong to 95 species spread over 20 genera and 07 families of the order Agaricales. The present paper discusses the distribution of these mushrooms in Punjab among different seasons, regions, habitats, and growing habits along with their economic utility, habitat management and conservation. This is the first attempt in which various dung localities of the state has been explored systematically to ascertain the diversity, seasonal availability, distribution and ecology of coprophilous mushrooms.

Mycosphere 10(1), 310–489, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/10/1/7 Abstract Leotiomycetes is regarded as the inoperculate class of discomycetes within the phylum Ascomycota. Taxa are mainly characterized by asci with a simple pore blueing in Melzer’s reagent, although some taxa have lost this character. The monophyly of this class has been verified in several recent molecular studies. However, circumscription of the orders, families and generic level delimitation are still unsettled. This paper provides a modified backbone tree for the class Leotiomycetes based on phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS, LSU, SSU, TEF, and RPB2 loci. In the phylogenetic analysis, Leotiomycetes separates into 19 clades, which can be recognized as orders and order-level clades.

  • Species of Hygrocybe Subgenus Cuphophyllus Hygrophorus Flavipes
PERS OONIA Published by the Rijksherbarium, Leiden 43-46 Volume 14, Part 1, pp. (1989) Notes on Hygrophoraceae — XI. Observations on some species of Hygrocybe subgenus Cuphophyllus Eef Arnolds Biological Station, Wijster (Drente), Netherlands* The nomenclature of the violaceous of grey species Hygrocybe subgenus Cuphophyllus and the taxonomic position of H. subradiata are discussed. One new species is described and onenew combination is made, viz. Hygrocybe radiata and H. flavipes. In Europe usually two species with a grey violaceous to lilac pileus are distinguished within Hygrocybe subgenus Cuphophyllus Donk (= Camarophyllus sensu auct.), named H. subvio- lacea (Peck) Orton & Watl. and H. lacmus (Schum.) Orton & Watl. The former species is characterized by an entirely white stipe and aromatic smell, whereas the latter species has a yellow base of stipe and no characteristic smell. Recently, Raid& Boertmann (1988) demonstrated that the name Agaricus lacmus Schum. has been since Schumacher did mention (1803: 333) currently misinterpreted not a yellow base of stipe in the original description and an unpublished, authentic plate by that author shows white lacmus Schum. is an entirely stipe. Consequently, Agaricus an earlier synonym ofHygrophorus subviolaceus Peck (1900: 82) and H. lacmus sensu auct. (with a yellow stipe base) should have a new name. According to Raid & Boertmann (1988) the oldest available name is Hygrophorus flavipes Britz. This epithet was not yet combinedin Hygrocybe and thereforethe following combina- tion is proposed: Hygrocybe flavipes (Britz.) Arnolds, comb. nov. — Basionym: Hygrophorus flavipes Britz., Hymenomyc. Stidbayern 8: 10, fig. 69. 1891. Some authors (Clemengon, 1982; Bon, 1984) distinguished two species with a yellow base of stipe, differing in spore size only: Camarophyllus lacmus sensu C16mengon with ellip- soid to lacrimiform of 6.5-8 x 4.5-6 and C.

Knowledge on morphological mycelial features and asexual reproduction modes of coprini is restricted, with Coprinopsis cinerea being the best described species. This species produces constitutively on monokaryons and light-induced on dikaryons unicellular uninucleate haploid arthroconidia (oidia) on specific aerial structures (oidiophores). The anamorphic name Hormographiella aspergillata was coined for oidia production on monokaryons. Two other Hormographiella species are described in the literature, one unknown (candelabrata) and one (verticillata) identified as Coprinellus domesticus. Another, yet sterile anamorph associated with some coprini is called Ozonium which describes the incidence of tawny-rust mycelial mats of pigmented, well septated and clampless hyphal strands as

Molecular data supporting all examined collections as V. dunensis expand its known geographic distribution. A revised morphological characterization and a phylogenetic analysis of all Volvariella species sequenced to date are provided. Key words — Agaricomycetes, ITS, phylogeny, Volvariella volvacea Introduction The genus Volvariella Speg., which is composed of saprotrophic or mycotrophic agarics, has been historically considered a member of the family Pluteaceae Kotl. & Pouzar (Singer 1986). The genus is characterized macroscopically by a pink spore-print, free lamellae, and a universal veil that forms a saccate volva at the base of the stipe and microscopically by the inverse hymenophoral trama (Singer 1986). Results from earlier molecular studies (Moncalvo et al. 2002, Matheny et al. 2006) led to questions about its monophyly and phylogenetic position in the Pluteaceae. More recent research focused on the Pluteaceae (Justo et al. 2011) showed that Volvariella is polyphyletic with two major clades. The large-spored, viscid species belonging to the V.

Abstract. Sá, M. C. A. & F. Wartchow. 2013. Lactifluus aurantiorugosus (Russulaceae), a new species from sou- thern Brazil. Darwiniana, nueva serie 1(1): 54-60. Lactifluus aurantiorugosus is proposed as a new species from southern Brazil. It is characterized by the small-sized basidiomata, pileus orange, glabrous and wrinkled when fresh, distant lamellae, ellip- soid and verrucose basidiospores with warts up to 0.7 µm, interconnected with incomplete reticules, a trichopalisade as pileipellis-structure, and the context of lamella and pileus with abundant sphaerocysts.
