Tame Impala Announce Major North American Tour the Slow Rush to Be Released February 14 Via Interscope TAME IMPALA ANNOUNCE MAJOR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH SPECIAL GUEST PERFUME GENIUS THE SLOW RUSH TO BE RELEASED FEBRUARY 14 VIA INTERSCOPE Tame Impala (Kevin Parker) will release his fourth studio album, The Slow Rush on February 14 (Interscope), and today he announces a full North American tour in support of the album. The tour kicks off with the previously announced date of March 9 at San Diego’s Pechanga Arena and concludes August 7 at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA. The dates include two nights at The Forum in Los Angeles on March 10 (sold-out) and 11. Clario and MGMT will support on previously announced March dates in California and Mexico, and Perfume Genius will support the full North American tour beginning in May. Tickets for the newly announced dates go on-sale Friday, December 13 at 10:00 AM local time. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets for select shows before the general public beginning Wednesday, December 11 at 10:00 AM local time through Thursday, December 12 at 10:00 PM local time. To date Parker has shared 3 tracks off The Slow Rush including last week’s “Posthumous Forgiveness,” “It Might Be Time,” and, “Borderline.” The Slow Rush was recorded between Los Angeles and Parker’s studio in his hometown of Fremantle, Australia. The twelve tracks were recorded, produced and mixed by Parker. Fans can pre-order The Slow Rush at tameimpala.com and all major retailers, or with a ticket purchase for any of the North American tour dates. Digital pre-orders will receive the three album tracks instantly. The Slow Rush will also be printed in 4 heavyweight double disc vinyl formats - standard black, forest green (Limited Edition - all retailers), red/blue (indie retail exclusive) and splatter (Tame Impala webstore exclusive). The Slow Rush is Parker’s deep dive into the oceans of time, conjuring the feeling of a lifetime in a lightning bolt, of major milestones whizzing by while you’re looking at your phone, it’s a paean to creation and destruction and the unending cycle of life. Parker told the New York Times earlier this year, “A lot of the songs carry this idea of time passing, of seeing your life flash before your eyes, being able to see clearly your life from this point onwards. I’m being swept by this notion of time passing. There’s something really intoxicating about it.” The album cover was created in collaboration with photographer Neil Krug and features a symbol of humanity all but swallowed whole by the surrounding environment, as though in the blink of an eye. In 2019 Tame Impala headlined multiple major festivals including Coachella, Primavera, Lollapalooza, ACL and more. Tame Impala’s last album, Currents (Interscope) was released in 2015 earning him a second GRAMMY nomination, RIAA Gold-certification and word-wide critical acclaim. The New York Times labeled it a "a tour de force" and Pitchfork said, "nearly every proper song on 'Currents' is a revelatory statement of Parker's range and increasing expertise as a producer, arranger, songwriter, and vocalist while maintaining the essence of Tame Impala." He first toured the U.S. in 2010, playing small clubs for crowds of 200.     The Notion of Song, Identities, Discourses, and Power: Bridging Songs with Literary Texts to Enhance Students’ Interpretative Skills Elroy Alister Esdaille Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy under the Executive Committee of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY 2020 © 2020 Elroy Alister Esdaille All Rights Reserved Abstract Sometimes students struggle to interpret literary texts because some of these texts do not lend themselves to the deduction of the interpretative processes with which they are familiar, but the same is not true when students pull interpretations from songs. Is it possible that students’ familiarity with songs might enable them to connect a song with a book and aid interpretation that way? This study attempted to explore the possibility of bridging songs to literary texts in my Community College English classroom, to ascertain if or how the use of song can support or extend students’ interpretive strategies across different types of texts. I investigated how songs might work as a bridge to other texts, like novels, and, if the students use songs as texts, to what extent do the students develop and hone their interpretative skills? Because of this, how might including songs as texts in English writing or English Literature curriculum contribute to the enhancement of students’ writing? The students’ responses disclosed that the songs appealed to their cognition and memories and helped them to interpret and write about the novels they read. Moreover, the students’ responses revealed that pairing or matching songs with novels strengthened interpretation of the book in a plethora of ways, such as meta-message deduction, applying contexts, applying comparisons, and examining thematic correlations.

Soundet kan beskrivas som väldigt energiskt, mycket tack vare just hård kompression och distorsion. Parkers sound känns igen även utanför Tame Impala. Trummorna upplevs i många fall som mycket mer än bara ett rytminstrument. Uppsatsen förklarar hur okonventionella produktionsprocesser kan ge upphov till originella ljudliga karaktärer, vilket i slutändan kan anses en positiv konsekvens.
