I will show you ways to play games, what free and non-free games are available, and give links to help you get started on downloading them.

  • 1 Laseractive from a PAL Perspective • Why Am I Writing This? to Be Fair
LaserActive from a PAL perspective Why am I writing this? To be fair, there are a number of excellent sites and videos on this remarkable device. The following just a few: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laseractive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqNtpC1VeH8 I believe Fakk28 has changed to thenewfakk28 so you will need to do a youtube search for his impressive video. http://www.youtube.com/user/superdeadite#p/search/3/-zZoyrL2FwA http://www.cyberroach.com/new_laseractive_pics/default.htm http://www.videogameconsolelibrary.com/pg90-pioneer.htm The N10 and S10 manuals are now available So the real reason of writing this is in the hope that other Aussie’s take up the gauntlet and get on board this miraculous mother! 1 How did I get on board myself? Well I actually only started collecting for this device earlier this year (2011) after seeing it mentioned on the pcenginefx.com forums (which unfortunately as I write this article are down for the foreseeable future). Addendum: Back-up and running. I scoured the web and found the above sites plus many more. After reading as much as I could, I decided to take the plunge and find one to buy. This is where it became very interesting. Where did I buy one? There weren’t too many places other than eBay where I could find one to buy and even there, they were damn expensive. Although the actual Laserdisc player (CLD- A100) was around US$300-$400 (mid 2011) which is not too bad for something obscure and becoming rare, it was the postage getting it here that always seemed to kill the deal.

CHRIS MULLINS'S NEO-GEO FAQ CHRIS MULLINS'S NEO-GEO FAQ PDF Version 1.6/TXT version 12.0/PostScript version 1.2 Updated 12/2/2001 SNK is dead….10/30/2001 This FAQ is made by Chris Mullins for reading to anyone who wants to know about the Neo-Geo Entertainment System, the Neo-Geo CD equivalent, and the MVS arcade system. Now, please enjoy this FAQ! TOTAL QUESTIONS ANSWERED: 61 FAQs ----Why did I create this FAQ? Well, there were many reasons, but the first, was that there was no other current Neo FAQ out on the internet. Ralph Barbagallo's FAQ was, in April 1997, 2 1/2 years without an update, and I felt I had to do something. I wanted to cover all aspects of the Neo, from getting games to work, to having a COMPLETE Game List, having answers about converting carts, etc. It took almost two years, but now, I can file:///C|/TXT%20Files/neofaqcurrent.html (1 of 86) [11/29/01 7:53:16 PM] CHRIS MULLINS'S NEO-GEO FAQ safely say that my FAQ is nearly complete. It will always get 'better' in some way, shape, or form, but with my hard work, and you guys(the FAQ readers) chipping in some great info, everyone will benefit. Thanks to all who helped me with this FAQ over the years, and special congratulations to Ralph Barbagallo, for making the first one. Without it, I wouldn't have had a measuring stick as to how to write a good system FAQ.

  • Digital Press Issue
Totally. Editor’s BLURB by Dave Giarrusso DIGITAL Like, this issue is TOTALLY about the 80s. Get it? Totally! Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. We’re ALWAYS talking about the 80s. Some of us still pretty much think it IS the 80s. But see, we play EVERYTHING. So while it is true that we do love our 80s games and fashions and music, we do still dig stuff from all over the time/space continuum. So for this issue, we decided to really focus on everything 80s and the way it intertwined with our favorite pasttime, playing video games. Since so many PRESS fantastic games were created during the 80s, you could argue that games are a major part of what the 80s is all about. DIGITAL PRESS # 51 And you’d be right. MAR / APR 2003 Founders Joe Santulli But we also had the Rubik’s Cube, DEVO, Chuck E. Cheese Pizza Time Kevin Oleniacz Theaters, upturned collars, parachute pants, Alfonso Riberio’s Breakin’ Boogie Body Board, and big, hideous sunglasses. Not to mention Transformers (robots Editors-In-Chief Joe Santulli in disguise!), those annoying Smurfs, and an almost “normal” moonwalking, Dave Giarrusso one-gloved Michael Jackson. Well, at least by his current standards. Senior Editors Al Backiel Jeff Cooper So throw on an old VHS copy of “The Greatest American Hero,” or “Square John Hardie Pegs,” turn on that Flock of Seagulls CD that you hide from your co-workers Sean Kelly and put those neon colored fat shoelaces back in your shockingly white Nike Staff Writers Larry Anderson hi-tops.

  • Laseractive Press Release Compilation
Billboard November 20, 1993 Pioneer Blazes Trail Toward Compatability With LaserActive BYLINE: by Chris McGowan SECTION: HOME VIDEO; Laser Scans; Pg. 65 LENGTH: 1108 words MEGA-COMPATIBLE: The consumer electronics business is suffering from techno-chaos. As a multitude of audio, video, and interactive systems fight it out in the format wars, consumers try to find room for yet another black box, muddle through their newest 50-page instruction booklets, and line up their newest remote controls with 10 others on the shelf. And all the while, wires and cables spread insidiously like kudzu vines through the living room and den. But out of chaos comes order, as Nietzche was quoted in "Blazing Saddles." Pioneer Electronics has devised an elegantly simple solution to alleviate these concerns: the LaserActive multiplayer, a remarkable unit that combines unprecedented versatility and ease of use. With the use of "control packs," the LaserActive player allows users to play back audio, video, games, and multimedia with just one single unit. The basic LaserActive machine (model CLD- A100) lists for $ 970 and plays back both audio CDs and video laserdiscs, as do other laser combi-players now on the market. But three different control packs, which insert neatly into the CLD-A100, turn the LaserActive into a true multi-format unit, capable of playing Sega CDs, Sega game cartridges, Turbo Technologies DuoSoft CDs, Turbo cartridges, karaoke laserdiscs, and CD+G (CD+Graphics) discs. What you have, then, is instant access to a vast and varied software library available right now: 7,500 laserdisc titles, 400 Sega and Turbo games, 1,500 karaoke songs, and tens of thousands of audio CDs.

We've been successful over the years in upholding our tradition and primary goal : to produce an expo celebrating the roots and history of video games that is run BY classic gamers , FOR classic gamers. This year we're celebrating numerous other anniversaries in addition to our own . The Magnavox Odyssey turns 30 this year. Atari was founded 30 years ago and their popular VCS console turns 25 as well. Finally, it was twenty years ago that GCE released their Vectrex system , and Coleco released their ColecoVision game console. That' s a lot to celebrate, and we hope you'll join us in having a great time in honoring these historic and important dates. In addition to all of these anniversaries, there are many other factors that will contribute to making this CGE a special experience for all involved, one of the largest of which is the presence of our Alumni guests. Each year they give up their time and money to come to the show, give talks about the old days, and meet up with their fans . Keep this in mind as you browse the exhibit hall. They're here to meet you as much as you are to meet them .
