The proportion has been given below:- Input Mix for PPC Sl. No. Component Proportion (%) by Weight 1 Clinker 65% 2 Fly Ash 30% 3 Gypsum 5% Input Mix for OPC Sl. No. Component Proportion (%) by Weight 1 Clinker 90% 2 Fly Ash 5% 3 Gypsum 5% We will be manufacturing Portland cement. Portland cement is the most common type of cement in general use around the world as a basic ingredient of concrete, mortar, stucco, and non-specialty grout. Concrete produced from Portland cement is one of the most versatile construction materials available in the world. It was developed from other types of hydraulic lime in England in the mid-19th century. Further, it has two sub-types: OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) is the most common cement used in general concrete construction when there is no exposure to sulphates in the soil or groundwater. OPC is environment friendly as well as economical. Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC-53, OPC-43, OPC-33). The 43 grade OPC is the most popular general- purpose cement in India. The OPC can be used for following applications: • General Civil Engineering construction work • RCC works (preferably where grade of concrete is up to M-30) • Pre-cast items such as blocks, tiles, pipes etc. • Asbestos products such as sheets and pipes. • Non-structural works such as plastering, flooring etc. PPC (Portland Pozzolana Cement) Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) is a variation of OPC which includes a mixture of a pozzuolanic material which can increase the strength of the concrete and reduce the amount of OPC used. ▪ It is a kind of Blended Cement which is produced by either intergrinding of OPC clinker along with gypsum and pozzolanic materials in certain proportions or grinding the OPC clinker, gypsum and Pozzolanic materials separately and thoroughly blending them in certain proportions. ▪ Pozzolana is any natural or artificial material containing silica in a reactive form. The pozzolanic materials commonly used are: o Volcani c ash. o Calcined clay. o Fly ash. o Silica fumes. Portland Pozzolana Cement is ideally suited for the following construction: o Hydraulic structures. o Mass concreting works. o Marine structures. o Masonry mortars and plastering. o Under aggressive conditions. o All other applications where OPC is used. o The compressive strength of PPC as per BIS code at present is equivalent to that of 33 grade OPC. .
