Magic Kingdom Cheat Sheet Rope Drop: Magic Kingdom opens its ticketing gates about an hour before official Park open. Guests are held just inside the entrance in the courtyard in front of the train station. The opening show, which features Mickey and the gang arriving via steam train, begins 10 to 15 minutes prior to Park open and lasts about seven minutes. At the conclusion of the show, the Park is opened. The best viewing area is front and center, but this puts you at a great disadvantage entering the Park as everyone off to the sides will enter before you. To minimize morning waits, make your way to the far left or right of the courtyard in front of one of the entrances. There may or may not be internal ropes at the various Lands holding guests until closer to official Park open. General Touring Philosophy: With 60+ attractions, Magic Kingdom is best toured over two or more days. The best plans compartmentalize the Park by visiting two or three Lands each day. Visit the character and attraction priorities in one Land before moving on to the next. Have lunch and then head back to the same Lands visiting the “anytime attractions.” This minimizes both waiting and walking. One-day touring will require more walking. You can still accomplish a lot by touring intelligently, but some attractions will need to be skipped. Characters: Unlike the other three Parks, there are characters that need to be prioritized ahead of the most important attractions. If you’d like to visit Enchanted Tales with Belle, Merida, Tinker Bell, or Rapunzel, you need to visit first thing in the morning, in the last hour they’re scheduled to appear, or use FastPass+ (where applicable) to avoid 30 to 75 minute waits. Visit the Character Prioritization page for more information. FASTPASS Priority: 1. Peter Pan’s Flight 2. Space Mountain 3. Splash Mountain (when high temperatures are 80+ degrees) 4. Rapunzel at Princess Fairytale Hall 5. Cinderella at Princess Fairytale Hall 6. Mickey Mouse at Town Square (Disconnected, see below) 7. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad 8. Splash Mountain (when high temperatures are less than 80 degrees) 9. Journey of the Little Mermaid 10. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 11. Jungle Cruise 12. Barnstormer 13. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin 14. Dumbo Disconnected FASTPASSes: Town Square Mickey, Dumbo, and Barnstormer are disconnected from the FASTPASS system, meaning you can collect them at any time in addition to another attraction. For example, you could pull Mickey, Dumbo, Barnstormer, and Space Mountain FASTPASSes back to back. Mickey is a higher priority now that he talks and capacity is lower. FastPass+ Priority: 1. Enchanted Tales with Belle 2. Peter Pan’s Flight 3. Main Street Electrical Parade 4. Space Mountain 5. Splash Mountain (when high temperatures are 80+ degrees) 6. Rapunzel at Princess Fairytale Hall 7. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad 8. Cinderella at Princess Fairytale Hall 9. Mickey at Town Square Theater 10. Tomorrowland Speedway 11. Wishes 12. Jungle Cruise 13. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin 14. Splash Mountain (when high temperatures are less than 80 degrees) 15. Haunted Mansion 16. Barnstormer 17. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 18. Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid 19. Ariel at Ariel’s Grotto 20. Dumbo the Flying Elephant 21. it’s a small world 22. Pirates of the Caribbean 23. Magic Carpets of Aladdin 24. Mad Tea Party 25. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor 26. Mickey’s PhilharMagic There are far more FastPass+ opportunities at Magic Kingdom than any of the other theme parks, making the decision on which to pick difficult. Consider picking three high priority attractions in a Land that you don’t plan to visit until the afternoon or evening. For example, if you plan to start your day with Tinker Bell, Aladdin’s Magical Carpets, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain, then you may want to use FastPass+ in the afternoon in Fantasyland at Enchanted Tales with Belle, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Rapunzel or in Tomorrowland at Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway, and Buzz Lightyear. FastPass+ Kiosks: Adventureland Breezeway to the right of Diamond Horseshoe City Hall Guest Relations just inside the entrance on the left Mickey’s PhilharMagic – To the right of the entrance Splash Mountain FASTPASS machines Storybook Circus in the very back at the Dumbo and Barnstormer FASTPASS machines Town Square Theater just inside the entrance on the right Ideal Two-Day Morning Plan Day 1 With Legacy Paper FASTPASS: 1. (Have one person collect FASTPASSes for Peter Pan’s Flight) 2. Enchanted Tales with Belle: 9am – 9:30am 3. Journey of the Little Mermaid: 9:35am – 9:45am 4. Ariel’s Grotto: 9:47am – 9:55am 5. Ride Peter Pan’s Flight with FASTPASS: 10am – 10:15am 6. (Collect FASTPASSes for Big Thunder or Splash Mountain if desired) 7. Ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: 10:25am – 10:40am 8. Ride Splash Mountain: 10:45am – 11:15am 9. (Ride Big Thunder or Splash Mountain again with FASTPASS if desired) 10. Collect FASTPASSes for Jungle Cruise– Return time of 12:10pm – 1:10pm 11. Have lunch. Pecos Bill, Columbia Harbour House, Tortuga Tavern, and Liberty Tree Tavern are nearby. 12. Ride Pirates of the Caribbean after lunch 13. Ride Jungle Cruise with FASTPASS Afternoon and Evening: Most people will want to take an afternoon break at some point when crowds and temperatures peak, depending on time of year and closing time. Otherwise, visit the anytime attractions like Country Bears Jamboree, Swiss Family Robinson, Enchanted Tiki Room, Liberty Square Riverboat, and the Hall of Presidents. If you’re returning after a break, enjoy dinner, additional attractions, and the nighttime entertainment. Ideal Two-Day Morning Plan Day 2 With Legacy Paper FASTPASS: 1. Collect FASTPASSes for Space Mountain or Buzz Lightyear if second ride desired 2. Ride Space Mountain: 9am – 9:15am 3. Ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin: 9:20am – 9:30am 4. Ride Astro Orbiter or Tomorrowland Speedway if desired: 9:33am – 9:50am 5. Ride Space Mountain or Buzz Lightyear with FASTPASS if desired 6. Ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: 9:55am – 10:10am 7. Ride The Barnstormer: 10:15am – 10:25am 8. Ride Dumbo The Flying Elephant: 10:27am – 10:40am 9. (Visit Pete’s Silly Sideshow for Goofy/Donald and/or Daisy/Minnie if desired) 10. Ride Mad Tea Party: 10:43am – 10:50am 11. Ride Haunted Mansion: 11am – 11:20am 12. Ride it’s a small world: 11:23am – 11:45am 13. Have lunch. Columbia Harbour House and Pinocchio Village Haus are nearby. For Be Our Guest lunch, grab snacks and get in line at 2pm. Afternoon and Evening: Consider another afternoon break. Visit the anytime attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland – Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Prince Regal Carousel, Stitch’s Great Escape, Mosnters Inc. Laugh Floor, PeopleMover, and Carousel of Progress are all good choices. Crowds diminish in the evening. If Magic Kingdom is open past 9pm, crowds will be lower each hour after. Return to Tomorrowland with two hours to close and Fantasyland in the last hour. Ideal Two-Day Morning Plan Day 1 With FastPass+: Use FastPass+ at Enchanted Tales with Belle, Space Mountain, and Buzz or Tomorrowland Speedway 1. Meet Rapunzel or Cinderella at Princess Fairytale Hall if desired: 9am – 9:10am 2. Ride Peter Pan’s Flight: 9:13am – 9:25am 3. Ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: 9:30am – 9:45am 4. Ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant: 9:50am – 10:05am 5. Ride The Barnstormer: 10:07am – 10:15am 6. Meet Ariel at Ariel’s Grotto: 10:20am – 10:35am 7. Ride Journey of the Little Mermaid: 10:37am – 10:55am 8. Ride it’s a small world: 11am – 11:20am 9. Ride The Haunted Mansion: 11:25am – 11:45am 10. Have lunch. Columbia Harbour House, Pinocchio Village Haus, and Liberty Tree Tavern are close. 11. Experience Enchanted Tales with Belle with FastPass+: 12:30pm – 1pm Afternoon and Evening: Consider an afternoon break or visit the anytime attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland like Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Prince Regal Carousel, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, Tomorrowland PeopleMover, Carousel of Progress, Stitch’s Great Escape, and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.

THE IMMERSIVE THEME PARK Analyzing the Immersive World of the Magic Kingdom Theme Park JOOST TER BEEK (S4155491) MASTERTHESIS CREATIVE INDUSTRIES Radboud University Nijmegen Supervisor: C.C.J. van Eecke 22 July 2018 Summary The aim of this graduation thesis The Immersive Theme Park: Analyzing the Immersive World of the Magic Kingdom Theme Park is to try and understand how the Magic Kingdom theme park works in an immersive sense, using theories and concepts by Lukas (2013) on the immersive world and Ndalianis (2004) on neo-baroque aesthetics as its theoretical framework. While theme parks are a growing sector in the creative industries landscape (as attendance numbers seem to be growing and growing (TEA, 2016)), research on these parks seems to stay underdeveloped in contrast to the somewhat more accepted forms of art, and almost no attention was given to them during the writer’s Master’s courses, making it seem an interesting choice to delve deeper into this subject. Trying to reveal some of the core reasons of why the Disney theme parks are the most visited theme parks in the world, and especially, what makes them so immersive, a profound analysis of the structure, strategies, and design of the Magic Kingdom theme park using concepts associated with the neo-baroque, the immersive world and the theme park is presented through this thesis, written from the perspective of a creative master student who has visited these theme parks frequently over the past few years, using further literature, research, and critical thinking on the subject by others to underly his arguments.

  • 'Magic Is Here' As Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park
From Family Favorites to Thrilling Attractions, the ‘Magic is Here’ as Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park Welcome Back Guests Beginning April 30, 2021 AHAHEIM, Calif. (April 14, 2021) – The fun, the magic and the dreams are coming back to the “Happiest Place on Earth” when Disneyland Resort theme parks reopen on April 30, 2021. Guests can discover or rediscover some favorite attractions and experiences at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, from thrilling adventures like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and the Incredicoaster, to family-friendly experiences like Toy Story Midway Mania!, Soarin’ Around the World and the newly reimagined Snow White’s Enchanted Wish. Because theme park capacity will be limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, the Disneyland Resort will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that requires all guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Theme park reservations will be limited and subject to availability and, until further notice, only California residents, in groups no larger than three households, may visit the parks in line with current state guidelines. Classic, family-friendly attractions Disneyland Snow White’s Enchanted Wish, in Fantasyland, has been reimagined with new magic in storytelling. Guests will celebrate this timeless fairytale with new scenes throughout the experience including a dancing figure of Snow White joining the dwarfs in their cottage as the scent of a pie baking wafts through the air.
