How to get to Stralsund 3.-7. September PMC 2018 The venues are located in the center of Stralsund, a medieval Hanseatic City on the Baltic coast. It is situated in north-eastern Germany, in the middle of Europe, some 300 km north of Berlin and east of Hamburg. Frequent trains connect these cities with Stralsund. There are also major ferry connections to Rostock from Trelleborg (Sweden) and Gedser (Denmark).and to Sassnitz/Mukran (Rügen) from Trelleborg (Sweden). A train ferry connection exists between Sassnitz/Mukran and Ust Luga in Russia. Arrival & Registration: Monday, 3rd September 2018, from 17:30h / evening (Get-together Party) German Oceanographic Museum Katharinenberg 14-20, 18439 Stralsund International Conference: Tuesday, 4th September 2018, in the morning (Late registration) OZEANEUM Hafenstraße 11, 18439 Stralsund Depending on the way you are traveling there are several options how to get to Stralsund. 1. Arrival by plane (via Berlin or Hamburg airport or Rostock) and train Hamburg: If you arrive at Hamburg airport, please take the S1 (green line) from airport to Hamburg main train station (Hauptbahnhof). The S1 runs every 10 minutes and the ride takes about 25 minutes. Berlin: If you arrive in Berlin there are two airports (Berlin-Tegel and Berlin- Schoenefeld). If you arrive at Berlin-Tegel, please take the shuttle bus (it runs every 20 minutes, the ride takes about 30 minutes) to Berlin Central Station. If you arrive at BER Schoenefeld, you can use the suburban trains to reach one of the Berlin trains stations (best: Central Station). Rostock: If you arrive in Rostock, you can take the Bus 127 regional bus route to the Central Bus Station / Central Train Station South which will take approximately 40 minutes. 2. Arrival by train (Stralsund can be reached from all major German cities by train) Leaving from Berlin or Hamburg it takes less than three hours to get to Stralsund. Please look at http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml for train connections to Stralsund Hauptbahnhof or Stralsund Rügendamm. According to your departure train station in Germany, there may be different offers of Deutsche Bahn. 3. Arrival by car From the south: It takes less than three hours from Berlin to Stralsund. Leaving Berlin on “Berliner Ring” drive until “Dreieck Schwanebeck” and take Autobahn A11 until “Dreieck Uckermark”. Than take Autobahn A20 until exit “Stralsund” and follow street B96 up to Stralsund. From the west: Leaving from Hamburg you reach Stralsund approximately in a 3 hours ride. Take Autobahn A20 if you come from the direction Hamburg/Rostock until exit Stralsund. Then follow street B96. 4. Arrival by ferry (There are ferries from several Nordic countries to Rostock and Sassnitz/Mukran (Rügen): • from Trelleborg (Sweden) to Sassnitz/Mukran (Ruegen) and to Rostock/Germany • from Gedser (Denmark) to Rostock/Germany … how to reach the OZEANEUM once you are in Stralsund • from the main station it is a 20 minutes walk in direction to the harbour • bus line 6 (year-round) from the main station to the bus stop “OZEANEUM” • from Rügendamm station it is a 10 minutes’ walk in direction to the harbor We wish you an enjoyable and pleasant journey! .
