Toll Authority Updates as of 04/30/2020 Tolling agencies continue to close their walk-in service centers in order to protect their employees and the general public. Where available, online service centers remain open, and all account management and payments should be conducted online. While cashless toll lanes remain open, additional toll authorities have ceased operation for cash/credit card payment lanes. The table below includes the latest closures, but please note, this information is subject to change without notice. State Authority Status California Express lane tolls on Bay Area freeways are being suspended due to a dramatic decline in traffic caused by the shelter-in-place order that took effect this week to address the spread of the novel coronavirus. All-electronic lanes remain open. Some bridge tolls can be paid online within 48 hours of occurrence. Bay Bridge - Effective 4/24, tolls for two-axle vehicles crossing the bridge will remain at $6 all day and at all times. Previously, the bridge's congestion pricing had reduced to $5 from midnight to 5 a.m., 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 Bay Area Toll Authority p.m. to midnight and raised to $7 during peak hours from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. VIOLATIONS PRIOR TO MARCH 21 Violations received prior to March 21 will not incur additional late fees due to COVID-19. FasTrak is temporarily delaying additional violation penalties and delaying sending unpaid notices to DMV hold or collections. Both of these will go back into effect at a later date, so you may wish to pay your violation before additional penalties are reinstated. E-Zpass Region Effective March 24th, at 10pm, the Delaware Department of Transportation has suspended cash toll collection until further notice. All traffic will be directed through the EZPass lanes and motorists without EZPass will receive a bill in the mail for the toll with no penalty or processing fee. The route 896 southbound ramp to I-95 will temporarily close due to the road configuration E-ZPass Delaware that does not permit access to the EZPass lanes. March 17, 2020 – In response to Governor Larry Hogan’s executive order this morning and to help limit the spread of COVID-19, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) will initiate statewide all-electronic (cashless) tolling effective at 3 p.m. today until further notice, and will close all E-ZPass® Maryland Customer Service Centers effective Wednesday, March 18, until further notice. To assist Marylanders with these changes, the MDTA will provide video tolling at the cash rates at toll facilities where cash is normally accepted, and establish grace periods for E-ZPass® Discount Plan expirations, Notices of Toll Due and citations. Drivers without E-ZPass will receive a bill in the mail for the cash toll amount. All automatic coin machines will remain operational with E-ZPass accepted in any open lane. New Jersey Turnpike Authority will suspend cash collections at all toll locations on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway as of 10:00 p.m. March 24, 2020 as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. All tolls will be collected electronically. Cape May County implemented cashless tolling at all Ocean Drive Bridges to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. Beginning March 22 at approximately 8 p.m., non-E-ZPass customers will not receive a toll ticket on entry, and will be asked to provide license plate information when they exit the Thruway, without paying cash. The westbound toll booth (heading toward Jamestown) will be open for cash collections during the day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., RITBA will close the toll booths and send all traffic through the open road tolling (ORT) lane. The tolls will be collected utilizing the existing open E-ZPass Rhode Island road tolling (ORT) technology. VDOT will temporarily suspend cash-exchange toll collection on the Powhite Parkway Extension, effective Wednesday, April 1. Cash-exchange toll collection will also be suspended at the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge toll in Yorktown in response to COVID-19. Exact change can still be dropped into the coin basket at the Powhite Parkway Extension. Per VDOT, “As of April 1, if you make an unpaid trip on a Virginia toll facility, you may be able to pay the toll through the ‘missed-a-toll’ process before receiving an invoice.
