Grand Hyatt Doha marks Earth Hour

Grand Hyatt Doha joined Qatar Tourism Authority recently in celebrating Earth Hour by switching off lights in the public areas of their property as well as their employees’ accommodations for an hour, from 8:30pm until 9:30pm. Earth Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet, held annually in March and organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature. The aim of this event is to encourage individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour starting at 8:30pm. More than 7,000 cities worldwide take part in this initiative, making it the largest global environmental event. “This initiative aims to highlight the commitment of Qatar’s tourism sector in supporting this worldwide movement in protecting and preserving the planet… and that’s why we chose to support it by taking a stand against climate change,” said Grand Hyatt Doha’s General Manager Christoph K Franzen. All external lights in the hotel property were switched off for an hour.
