Contemporary Malayalam cinema however, is praised for its‘new generation cinema’ wave, which ha sapparently shed both its fetish over rustic settings, anti-political undertones and patriarchal violence, to embrace an urban, post-political life of the supposed ‘new generation’ Malayalees. Such cinemas however, continue remain within the monochrome panorama of the old generation which refused to acknowledge the social other and continued to position the dark-skinned, short statured, plump bodies as a site of violence and humour where the physical body plays a part in the politics of subaltern subjugation. The indirect implication of course being that such bodies are not suited for a civil society, who remain incongruent with the realities of the modern spaces by either being violent and antagonistic or comic and out of place. The paper aims to broadly define and delineate the practices of casteism and visual untouchability being practiced in Malayalam visual media.

  • Action Hero Biju Malayalam Movie Free Download Hd User Reviews
action hero biju malayalam movie free download hd User Reviews. This is one of those movies for which IMDb can effectively disable the spoiler button and it would make no difference since the movie has no storyline and thus nobody can spoil the plot for those who are yet to watch it. I have seen more than my fair share of movies. I have seen absolute gems like 'Castaway on the Moon' that very few people would have been privileged enough to watch. I have seen horrendous movies like 'The Chosen One' starring Rob Schneider that even he himself probably did not watch. However this is the first time ever that I have seen a movie without the slightest semblance of a storyline. Action Hero Biju is borderline biography. If you are expecting a movie in which the protagonist uses words like 'Boombastic' repeatedly and beats up politicians just for fun, this is not it. If you are expecting a movie with comedy in the first half and mind boggling suspense in the second half then , this is not it either. If a camera crew followed a honest yet tough police officer around for a month keeping track of the day to day functioning of a police station ,then this would be it. Action Hero Biju is not everyone's cup of tea. This is one of those movies that will split moviegoers opinions down the middle. Half the audience will leave the theater disappointed because this is not what they have come to expect from action movies/thrillers/police oriented movies.

  • Maheshinte Prathikaram and Action Hero Biju: Reflection of an Ideological War in Malayalam Cinema
Int.J.Eng.Lang.Lit&Trans.StudiesINTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE, Vol.3.Issue. LITERATURE 2.2016 (Apr-Jun) AND TRANSLATION STUDIES (IJELR) A QUARTERLY, INDEXED, REFEREED AND PEER REVIEWED OPEN ACCESS INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL http://www.ijelr.in KY PUBLICATIONS RESEARCH ARTICLE ARTICLE Vol. 3. Issue.2.,2016 (April-June ) MAHESHINTE PRATHIKARAM AND ACTION HERO BIJU: REFLECTION OF AN IDEOLOGICAL WAR IN MALAYALAM CINEMA ABDUL GAFOOR P Research Scholar Department of Studies in English Kannur University ABSTRACT The second decade of twenty first century witnessed a paradigm shift in the Malayalam Cinema in terms of subject matter and style. The Star centered elitist Romantic comedies gave way to a more realistic popular cinema that welcomed experimentations. Common people, common man’s life, realistic settings, marginalized cultures , popular music, regional slang, gender and cultural minorities etc. qualified to be appeared on the big screen. This new trend is popularly termed as New Generation Cinema. This paradigm shift in the Cinema is the impact and reflection of an ideological conflict that exists in the Kerala society. The rise of a new middle class ,as a result of the spread of education and gulf money, invited a new set of values substituting, at the same time, struggling with the earlier elitist classical traditional values. The fierce ideological conflict between these two ideologies reflected in the cinema also. The two films at stake in this article represent these two ideological streams that run strongly in the socio-political sphere of Kerala. As Action Hero Biju declares its solidarity with the elitist values the film Maheshinte Prathikaram expresses a dissent.
