We are perfectly positioned on the migratory route for birds migrating to Western Europe in the spring and back to Africa in the autumn via the Strait of Gibraltar. Many birds have been observed at close range flying over the complex at Alboran Hills. I am sure it will be of interest to golfers too. Please be aware that a car is a must here as there are no shops within walking distance. Nearest shop is at Los Hidalgos which is approximately 2 kms away along a busy dual-carriageway. There is a small fee of 30 euros payable to Dawn for the on arrival for utilities (water and electricity). Swimming Pool Due to new Spanish laws our swimming pool is open from June to September inclusive only. Manilva Alboran Hills is located within the municipality of Manilva which also has a town of the same name. The town of Manilva is split into two parts, the coastal resort and the charming white-washed sleepy village located just 3 kilometres up the hill from the coast. The village itself is bordered by a wonderful vineyard of Muscatel Grapes, which are mainly used for making sweet wine. Down on the coastal resort, Manilva has managed to retain its Andalusian character by opting out of excessive development. Although Manilva was not acknowledged as a municipality in its own right until the 16th Century, it has a rich and diverse history dating back to Roman times. One of the main structures which remain is the Hedonic Roman Baths. Dating from the 1st Century BC it is rumoured that the mighty Julius Caesar himself regularly took to the waters and cured himself of a skin complaint during his time as acting governor in Southern Spain. The Roman baths are located in La Hedionda valley just behind Manilva and are well worth a visit. Aldea Beach (See Above) Alboran Hills is located directly adjacent to the entrance to Aldea Beach. It’s a very quiet beach with no amenities. There are 2 Beach Bars within walking distance offering authentic Spanish cuisine and drinks. Castillo Beach Castillo Beach is located between Aldea Beach and Puerto de la Duquesa. It is only a 15-20 minute walk from Alboran Hills. It’s a great family beach with a child’s play area, volley ball nets and safe shallow waters. Parents can keep an eye on the children from the beach. Puerto de la Duquesa Known locally as Duquesa; this busy sailing port is only a 10 minute walk from Castillo. Sit outside one of the many international restaurants and bars, sip your wine and enjoy the spectacular view over the marina. Here you will find staff that pride themselves on giving not only a high standard of service but producing the type of cuisine that will bring you back time and time again. Also at Duquesa there are shops, hairdressers, beauticians a health club and many small businesses. San Luis de Sabinillas For years this sleepy enclave has remained untouched by tourism and has followed much the same pace of life as it did years ago, however over the last few years the town has been experiencing a bit of a transformation. The walk from Duquesa to Sabinillas is a very pleasant one, along the seafront walkway which extends along the entire town. Casares Eight miles inland from the Manilva coast is the white village of Casares. Here you will enjoy clear mountain air and a good selection of bars and restaurants offering local fare as well as some very typical Spanish village shops which serve the local community well. Casares forms an important part in the catalogue of white villages of Málaga. Set on the mountain over two hills and their corresponding valley, Casaras is beautifully Spanish and in 1978 was declared to be a Historical Complex. In the highest part of the town there are three outstanding architectural elements: The ruins of its Arabic Fort, the Cemetery, and the 16th Century Parish Church of La Encarnación. If you are a keen bird watcher this is where you must go. There are many birds of prey and vultures flying overhead. Golf Alboran Hills is located within an area with a high density of superb golf courses. Almenara, Alcaidesa, Doña Julia, Estepona, Finca Cortesin, La Canada, La Reserva, San Roque, Sotogrande, Valderrama, and El Paraiso are all very close. The closest is Duquesa Golf Club which is only a 2 minute drive away from Alboran Hills. Duquesa Golf Club has some wonderful Mediterranean views out to North Africa and Gibraltar.
