SOURCES:

Most information is from two convict records held in the Western Australian archives, Battye Library, Perth: R16, WAA 1156 - Register of the Hougoumont convicts; and V10,WAA 1156 - Superintendents Register, 1867-1877. The quoted remarks related to convictions in are from Fenian Papers File 5246R, No. 27, State Paper Office, Dublin. Some additional details in regard to the convicts lives after release have been drawn from the thesis for ready reference. Years of birth have been calculated from ages given upon arrival at on 10 January 1868. Any convict whose birthday happened to be between 1st and 10th January would therefore have been born a year later than indicated here. After each convicts sentence, the English prison occupied just prior to transportation is given together with the convicts number there. The second convict number is that received upon arrival in .
