Cheshire County Cricket League 2016 NEWSLETTER : WEEK 16 – AUGUST 6 - 7 Goodwin 114 & hat-trick for CBH WHILE Alderley Edge got back on an even keel after their hiccup the previous week, the chasing pack of Bowdon, Hyde and Chester Boughton Hall all won to keep up the ECB Premier League pressure, it was CBH who made Saturday’s headlines. After piling up 303-6 in a high-scoring draw at Toft the previous week, CBH this time declared after 42 overs at 324- 4 before bowling out wooden spoonists Urmston for 87. In the Chester innings, Rick Moore (156) and Warren Goodwin (114) put on 216 for the first wicket, both recording their fourth centuries of the season and now total 885 and 704 League runs respectively. Plaudits to Craig Wilson, meanwhile, for a plucky 4-91. Urmston reached 83-3 in reply (Brad Yates 45) when Goodwin came on to record figures of 4-3-4-5, including a hat- trick as Urmies lost their last five wickets without scoring to close on 87. Despite these histrionics, CBH remain fourth, 49 points behind Alderley, who beat Timperley by six wickets. Timperley were bowled out for 121, Andy Windle 4-21 and ‘Edge were in trouble at 46-4 before teenager Ed Fluck, 44 and veteran Mark Currie, 35, saw them home at 122-4, Jack White taking 4-33. Bowdon remain 23 points behind the leaders, beating Macclesfield by 58 runs at South Downs road after posting 181- 8. Openers Simon Marshall, 79 and Jack Tipton, 51 put on 134, but none one of the nine following batsmen managed double figures against John Birchall 4-23 and Salim Raja 3-58. Chris Ashling claimed a magnificent 8-22 from 11.4 overs after tea, when Macc were bowled out for 123, Birchall scoring 45 and Nick Bertus 44. Hyde kept up their winning run against Toft, whom they restricted to 204-8, James Drummond 50 not out, Jason Whittaker 3-26. Hyde replied with 206-3, Harry Dearden 55, Dave Fitzsimmons 50 not out. Neston sprang into the top half of the table by recording their fourth win on the trot – that’s 100 points - at the expense of hosts Bramhall, whom they bowled out for 207, Dan Lamb 70, Paul Stimson 3-11. David Hurst blasted a mighty 91 not out off 85 balls when Neston replied with a rapid 210-5. Cheadle greatly improved their survival prospects with a three wickets home win against Nantwich, who remain in trouble. The Dabbers totalled 203, Ryan Brown 47, John Dooler 4-62 and Cheadle made it at 204-7, Dan Brown 79. Division One closes up GRAPPENHALL, Oulton Park and Sale all won while leaders Didsbury were held to a draw by Davenham in Division One. Grappers won by 37 runs after declaring on 263-6 at Tattenhall, Adam Roylance 103, Ryan Ninan 71 not out. The Tattenhall batting improved, yet they were all out for 226, Sam Green 68, Glen Coppack 67 as skipper Roylance claimed 4-44 and Ninan 3- 70. Oulton Park’s good run continued with a four wicket home victory against Oxton, who opted to bat and were restricted to 180-8, Mahedi Quadri 63, Greg Shillinglaw 48, Tom Hyslop 3-59. Kiwi Hyslop top scored with 54 not out as Park reached 182-6 in response. Sale continued their rise with a convincing eight wickets home victory over Weaverham, whom they bowled out for 157, Kevin Waterhouse 37, Tyrone Lawrence 5-39. The splendid Brooke Guest top-scored with 90 as Sale coasted home on 158-2. Bollington beat struggling Cheadle Hulme by 29 runs after posting a modest 133. ‘Hulme replied with 104, Joe Binder’s splendid 6-41 turning a tight game. Leaders Didsbury had to be content with 15 draw points against stubborn Davenham after declaring on 227-9, Matt Marfani 83 not out, Nick Anderson 64. Overseas star Givon Christian was Davenham’s key man with a knock of 80 out of 163-9. Widnes’ 11th victory was by seven wickets on a fine pitch at Alvanley, who mustered 134, Andy Bennion 47 not out, Sean Moore 3-21, Danny Moore 3-53. Dan Naughton, 68 and Marcus Fourie, 55 then knocked the runs off. Upton beat Northwich by three wickets after restricting their visitors to 179-8, James Plant 51, Matt Dufty 45, Tom Maguire 3- 47. Nat Sariman contributed an unbeaten 85 to Upton’s reply of 180-7. Stockport moved up to fourth with a seven wickets win against bottom team Middlewich, now 57 points from safety. For the winners Shea Gribben took 5-18 and Tom Facer was unbeaten with 38. Lindow beat Christleton by eight wickets after restricting their Upcast lane visitors to 179, Scott Howarth 6-43. Jake Martin, 88 not out and Chris Taylor, 63 led the way for the winners. Barrow batted well to total 229-9 against Brooklands at The Croft, Alex Reid 70, Marlon Barclay 52, A.J. Hart 4-72. Brooklands got close at 212-9, Dan Duke 75, David Cunliffe 59, while Barrow’s veteran chairman Phil Noble took a splendid 4-24. Aussie Chris Nield scored his second successive ton for Mobberley (118 out of 299-6) against Congleton at Church Lane. But Congleton, in trouble at the wrong end of the table, held out at 201-6, Tom Blease 53.
