    WORLD CUP 2021 PRE-BULLETIN Orienteering World Cup 2021 Pre-Bulletin WELCOME TO THE WORLD CUP 2021 Dear athletes, Dear fans of orienteering, We, the World Cup consortium, are happy to be able to present a great program for the 2021 World Cup. The World Cup 2021 will consist of nine competitions over 3 events. The same design as for the World Cup 2020. The locations are carefully selected to shape a series of competitions that place demands on a variety of skills. The first round, in Sweden, will require a high level of technical navigation skills. The second round, in Russia, will be all about speed, in legs and brain. The ability to handle high altitude alpine terrain will be a key skill in the third and decisive round. The program marks a further step towards a consolidation and quality improvement of the World Cup. 2021 will be the second year under the management of the World Cup consortium, consisting of IOF and Verein Swiss Cup. This stability gives good opportuni- ties for making the cup attractive to both athletes, fans and the media. The media is showing an increasing interest and we have reasons to believe that TV coverage will be excellent during 2021. We wish athletes, teams, partners, spectators and fans everywhere welcome to the World Cup 2021.     Late Summer 2018 SAXALERT Edition 180 CLUB NOTICES Kent Orienteering League called the KOL. This is a series of 10 events held usually once a month on Saturday mornings between September and June. The locations are woods, parks, country parks and forests. Five events are planned and organised by Saxons and five are organised by Dartford Orienteering Club. This year we start off the series with an event at Dunorlan Park Tunbridge Wells on September 22nd. The winning team will be awarded the challenge prize Lukkarin oppi, “The Schoolmaster’s Lesson”, donated by Helsingin Sanomat newspaper. Preliminary course lengths Estimated time 1. 10,0 km dusk / dark 70 min 2. 11,5 km dark 83 min 3. 10,0 km dark / dusk 71 min 4. 7,7 km dusk / daylight 48 min 5. 7,7 km daylight 46 min 6. 10,6 km daylight 70 min 7. 14,2 km daylight 89 min Total 71,7 km 7 h 57 min All courses include approximately 1 000 meters of signposting. Proposing organizer Kalke Ry wish to express its interest to organize the World Rogaining Championships in Finland in August 2015. We welcome the growing family of rogainers to Arctic Lapland, Saariselkä, 250 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle in August 2015. Kalke Ry has introduced the 24 hour rogaining concept in Finland by organizing already 5 full time (24 hours) open Retki Rogaing events since 2007 and hosted European Rogaing Championship in Ylläs 2009. Kalke Ry hosts the website http://retki.rogaining.fi where the history of the rogaining events organized by Kalke ry can be found. 2. Proposed date for the event The proposed date in August 22 nd -23 rd 2015 offering first glimpse of the incoming fall with all the colors – Ruska, but still with safe margin for coming winter and possibility of snow is minimal. 3. Planed location The venue is one of the largest national parks in Finland - Urho Kekkosen Kansallispuisto and next by areas with existing infrastructure for the event centre. It is located roughly 250 km north of the polar circle and is in major part desert. Exceptions are the Saariselkä resort and some individual habituated area close to the main road. The location of the competition area is indicated in the map below. Competition area is well north from the polar circle but still the conditions, especially at summer are mild.
