I am pleased that you have chosen to pursue your college studies in Taiwan, and I believe you will soon discover this is one of the smartest choices you have made in your life. Tzu Chi University has just celebrated its 22nd anniversary. Though a comparatively young academic institution, we have steadily developed a decent and humanistic academic tradition. Our history may be relatively short; nevertheless, we have already made remarkable achievements that mean we can stand tall, shoulder to shoulder with Taiwan's most esteemed higher education institutions. We have received approval and accreditation from various national higher education evaluation programs and specialist associations. Tzu Chi University's students have the highest rate of professional certification in Taiwan. Our Medical Simulation Center is regarded by The Wall Street Journal as the best model for the medical profession and humanistic education. It embraces cultural differences, promotes individuality and facilitates student bonding. To do so, the student union hosts a variety of activities throughout the year open to international students. Those activities provide ISU members the opportunity to demonstrate their talents, to work with each other toward a common goal, and to introduce their respective cultures to local students, faculty and staff members. The ISU also works closely with the OIA to assist new international students with their accommodations, as well as other issues that may arise during their studies. 3 4 International Student Handbook Tzu Chi University TCU International Ambassadors One of the main duties of International Ambassadors is to assist OIA to receive foreign guests. OIA organizes different types of training programs for the International Ambassadors to be acquainted with proper etiquette and the university's operation. Health Certificate for Residence Otherwise, you need to ask a 4 v Taiwanese hospital for help within 14 Application days after arriving Taiwan. • The chest X-ray for tuberculosis is a part of your health examination, and Tzu Chi University will assist you to do it within 14 days after you arrive Taiwan. 5 Resident/Visitor Visa 6 Airline ticket Contact information of relative(s) 7 or friend(s) living in Taiwan You might want to open a joint account Open a joint account in your with your parent(s) in your country, and 8 country apply for an ATM card for convenience in paying expenses in Taiwan.
