Story Time Bronze Richland Public Library 1 Gary Price Sculpture - Two children reading 1993 65” w x 32” h Dedicated to the families of Richland – HAPO Federal Credit Union Untitled Brick Richland Public Library Harold Balazs Brick relief - Per the artist, the brick relief is “non-objective, with themes of juxtapositions of disparate ideas. The 1969 panels attempt to depict, visually, a collection of ideas. The “forms” draw on pictographs, calligraphic forms, folk art 2 motifs, ancient and modern symbols, and things arcane.” 8’ h x 22’ w In 1969, commissioned by the City of Richland for exterior of Richland Public Library. In 2009, the piece was moved to the interior as part of the Library renovation.

Word Wall Wood and backlit glass Richland Public Library 3 Fletcher, Farr, Ayote Architects The Word Wall incorporates quotations from each category of the Dewey Decimal System. Dreamer Marble Richland Public Library 4 Tom McClelland Sculpture – “For all who dream” in memory of R. T. McClelland, Faye Briece, and Rev. John A. Briece. 1992 14” w x 26” h Donated by Mrs. Nadine McClelland

Firestones of the Mighty Columbia Urethane paint on steel Richland Public Library D. Steve Yerian “Pablo Picasso said, “Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth.’ And so it is with this painting. Perhaps the hot yellow, 2009 orange and red elements of the painting symbolize the volcanoes of the past that formed the basalt so common in the Columbia Basin. Perhaps the dancing cool blue green color is the ancient flood water from Lake Missoula, or moving 5 forward in time, maybe the water of the Might Columbia River. This painting is not so about a specific place or point in time; but rather a sense of place and time here in the Columbia Basin.” 42” h x 48” w

After the Flood Oil on Linen Richland Public Library 6 Eric LoPresti “Large format painting of an aerial view north of Hanford showing giant sand coulees extending across the desert steppe. The 2009 formations are unique to this region, and resulted from the cataclysmic Missoula ice-age floods. This piece graphically illus- trates the unique character of the regional landscape, while reminding us of our small place within geological history.” 60” x 40”
