Also part of the festivities: DRESS DOWN Fundraiser for Ddembe Home Uganda! For $2 celebrate International Day by wearing an ethnic costume or colors of your heritage or the country you most identify with. Yes, you may represent the USA if you prefer. (As always, dress appropriately: no pajamas, yoga pants or torn or revealing/offensive clothing.) Kindly assisting with the fundraiser, the Student Council will collect the money on period 1 on Wednesday. From Ms. Kleros for the Admission Office ADMISSION VISITORS, Wednesday 4/18 About 38 prospective students and parents will visit the High School campus. They will attend an information session in the Admission Office during 2nd period, hear a student panel during Milkbreak, and tour the campus during 3rd period. We also have two applicants attending this visit: Drew, an 11th grader from New Jersey, and Naomi, a 9th grader from Newton. They will continue touring during 4th period and attend 1st lunch. From Sam S STOCK CLUB, Wednesday 4/18 The Stock Club will be meeting in the Steamworks room during Milkbreak on Wednesday, 4/18. From Mrs. Meade GETTING READY FOR EMS VISITS, Thursday 4/19 On next Tuesday and Wednesday (4/24, 4/25), the 8th graders from EMS will be visiting the HS during periods 1-5. We are looking for our 9th graders who came from EMS to help with that visit. Would the following students please meet during milkbreak on Thursday, April 19th, in the Lopardo Conference Room: L. From Ms. Burgess READING CLASS FIELD TRIP, Thursday 4/19 The following students will be off campus on a Reading class field trip on Thursday, 4/19, Periods 5-8: Balestracci, Demers, Kerndt, Moore, Morton and Moylan. From Ms. Fraser COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY, Thursday 4/19 Come out on Thursday 4/19 at 3:30 for an opportunity to fulfill some Community Service hours! We will be heading over to Landmark's EMS to prep the ropes course for the upcoming season. We will meet in LOP lounge at 3:30 and return by 5:30 pm. Please let Ms. Fraser ([email protected]) know by Wednesday if you are planning on coming. Bring a friend! From Isa W, TJ S and Joa S STUDENT WALKOUT, Friday 4/20 On April 20th at 9:45am the student walkout will begin. The purpose is to commemorate those who have lost their lives to gun violence and to protest assault style weapons, gun violence, bump stocks and legislative inaction in gun policy. Students should walk dressed in black (silently if they are drawn) to the Ansara Center where we will all stand on the lawn (if the weather is poor it will take place inside the gym). The ceremony will involve five minutes of silence and a few student speakers. Below is the itinerary for the walkout. 9:45 – 9:59 Students arrive at event location 10:00 – 10:05 Opening remarks 10:06 – 10:11 5 minute moment of silence 10:12 – 10:30 Student speakers 10:31 Dismissal to 3rd period (continue regular school day) It is ok if you don't want to participate. You can head to your third period class as you would on a usual school day. Students taking the SATs are welcome to attend any or all workshops. Sessions will be the held from 3:30-4:30 in Alexander 5. Friday 4/27 As you know, May 1st is national decision day for high school seniors going on to post-secondary programs. We want you all to celebrate your decision next Friday, April 27th!!! Wear something that represents your plans for next year! This may mean a t-shirt/sweatshirt from your college, a job uniform, or something with the name of your GAP year program, etc. Please keep in mind normal dress dress down day rules still apply. IMPORTANT: Any SENIOR who is in danger of receiving an F in any subject must be reported to Tim Mahoney by Friday, May 11th @ the latest. All other SENIOR N.O.P.'s are also due on May 11th. Underclass Warnings are due on Friday, May 25th. Department Heads and Academic Advisors please ensure that the original warning sheets are turned in to Beverly Carpenter with a copy to me.
